I assume you are referring to Denver.

Giants finished 9-7 in a shit division and the Broncos finished 8-8 in a shit division.

How did one team earn their title and the other team have it handed to them?

Was it because the Giants won their last game and the Broncos didn’t?  Last I checked a win at the beginning or middle of the season counts the same as a win at the end of the season.

But the Giants have played 4 playoff teams in the span of 5 games. Not to mention the fact that the 4 teams have the top 4 records in the NFL. And anyone who watches football knows the NFC East is a far tougher division than the AFC West and it always has been.

They earned their title with convincing wins over their final 2 games instead of limping into the playoffs by losing their final 3 and needing another team to win. The Giants had to win the final to games to make the playoffs. They controlled their own fate and WON. The Broncos needed help from the Chargers to win their division.

Also...everything I said in post #2054 can be added to this post. Meaning strength of schedule and the NFC East being far more tougher than the AFC West.

Why did you even bring Eli into the discussion? Lets just play along and acts like it's not your way of diversion. For the record, I don't think Eli is an elite QB but I certainly would take him over Tebow anyday.

i think Tebow is stinkng it up lately but being heavy underdogs at home against a very beat up Steelers team sets up for a nice cover at home- take the under instead!

Shooter you've made some good points but i have to also say that the Giants earned the playoff spot instead of backing in- and that is coming from  a big Cowboys fan(yes they are terrible and i know it thus my Giants bet tonight)- Giants will lose and Denver should lose- Then maybe this thread can die- Will be interesting to see if Denver makes a move for Matt Flynn this offseason

Yea. He did not mention one single thing about Tebow's performance today. He's just talking about Eli's past because I'm a Giants fan.

Also...everything I said in post #2054 can be added to this post. Meaning strength of schedule and the NFC East being far more tougher than the AFC West.

Again: Last I checked a win at the beginning or middle of the season counts the same as a win at the end of the season.

A 9-7 team in a shit division earned their title, but an 8-8 team in a shit division had their title handed to them?

I wonder if you weren’t a huge giants homer and a rabid Tebow hater you’d feel the same way.

Yea...I'm a huge Giants homer who doesn't expect the Giants to go far in the playoffs because their defense is incredibly sketchy.

I'm a Giants FAN...not a "homer". The Giants aren't a good TEAM. They got a solid offense led by a career season by Eli which isn't even a question and an incredible emergence of a SUPERSTAR in Victor Cruz. But they lack a return game and a secondary.

Lucky for them, however, is that their offense is so good and the top teams in the NFC have weak secondaries as well that they may be able to steal some.

But as for the Broncos...Tebow isn't good at all and will be lucky to move the ball on the Steelers' defense.

The Giants are definitely a better team than the Broncos and the Giants finished much stronger, but like I said they both play in shit divisions and one finished 9-7 and the other 8-8.  I don’t think that means the giants earned it and the broncos had it handed to them.

The reason the broncos could finish weak and still win the division was because they had a 6 game winning streak in the middle of the season.

The reason the giants couldn't afford to was because they had a 4 game losing streak in the middle of the season.

There is no they/he. There is only a they. And as I've said...the secondary is why this team is so bad.

And what good/winning team did the Giants beat this year? Well...going into Foxboro and beating the Patriots is pretty impressive.

And post #2065 can be added to this one.

But the 6 game winning streak came against average to below average teams. The Giant's 4 game losing streak came against some of the best teams in the NFL.

There's no arguing here. The Giants are the better team, have the better record, play in the better division, had the tougher schedule and finished the season stronger.

But I don't know why this is all of a sudden a Giants thread. If you want to talk about the Giants...make another thread about it. How'd the topic of this thread play today?

Sparky you keep saying the defense is why Denver won ...but you say NYG defense is crap and that is why they are bad ...well hate to tell you but Denver/NYG ranked 28/29 respectivly as to defense  so how does that make sense to your argument....?

So you’re going to maintain that a 9-7 team with an easier schedule and playing in a shit division earned their title while an 8-8 team with a harder schedule and playing in a shit division had it handed to them?

I respect you as a poster sparky, but that’s just plain idiotic.

And the reason we are talking about this is because of your comment in post 2044: “The Giants just showed everyone what it's like to EARN a playoff birth instead of it being handed to them.”

Tebow didn't play well today but his team also won the division title today in part due to his contributions in earlier games.

There's a difference between the Broncos' strength of schedule for the season and the Broncos' strength of schedule with Tim Tebow. Orton faced the Packers, Bengals and Titans. So lets correct those numbers just a bit.

    Broncos (w/ Tebow) -- .477 winning percentage
    Broncos (w/ Orton) -- .612 winning percentage

    Giants -- .492 winning percentage
