    @ckattar8 => Celts miss a lot (= Cav's D.) & Cavs hit all theirs...(?)

There are many that say it is inevitable that the Cavs are very, very unlikely
to outshoot this year's Boston personnel by 19% for a 2nd straight game...
while LeBron is on record stating matter-of-factly that his team can play
    better still.

If last night the Spurs would have covered the spread - I may have considered going with the Celtics here saying the Cavaliers will be playing with one hand tied up behind their backs - but, as long as that is not the case - it is hard to envision the Cavaliers  - at the first home game after being insulted by the Celtics winning the conference seeding - cutting any slack in front of the home crowd - to the Celtics.
It is either a total sell out Walmart style - or it is a blowout LATEST style. No middle thing with explanations and $hit

bigdude, your posts are the epitome of square thinking, made all the more obvious by the fact that you won't take off the caps lock.

CAVS ARE TOO GOOD... LEBRON... DURRRRRRP...

The point is that to cover 16.5 you need another completely dominant, near perfect shooting night with all the calls going your way for the second straight game. It just happened with the line at 6 so the value was in the last game, it's long gone, and the perception that the last 2 games has built, because of squares like yourself, makes +16.5 the play for anyone who can actually cap. But thank god for fellas like you or we wouldn't get these juicy numbers in these situations. Now please stop typing in all caps it's super annoying.

You say "insulted that Boston got No. 1 seed".....Cavs went on that losing run so as not to be No. 1 seed as they wanted to avoid a showdown with Miami or Chicago who were vying for the No, 8 spot. Chicago had given the Cavs problems during the season. Don`t get me wrong Cavs and GSW are by far the 2 best teams and they are going to sweep and we are going to be lambasted with how GREAT(being sarcastic) these 2 teams are right up until 1st June. Continuous BS on ESPN NBATV ETC, for the next week.

I am at a loss for words that people are reducing a spread of 16 to the words "8 baskets" or "outscore them by 4 per quarter".

Both are true. Andif the Celtics win ONE quarter, say the third by 6, that means the Cavs have to win the 4th by: Cavs +4 1st Cavs +4 second Celtics -6 third, Cavs +15 in the 4th to cover. Think about that.

That math doesn't work folks. 4 per quarter.....sorry. That's ASSUMING the Cavs win every quarter!!! That's a massive assumption! And you still have to win every quarter by at least 4 just to PUSH at 16!

That math doesn't work folks. 4 per quarter.....sorry. That's ASSUMING the Cavs win every quarter!!! That's a massive assumption! And you still have to win every quarter by at least 4 just to PUSH at 16!

Lol. A 27 point differential, in the 2nd q. Game 2 they only have to win 1 q by that margin

Another incentive is that the bookies lost a lot game 1 and game 2. I think they're trying to reduce liability by pushing the spread to 17, which i believe is a more accurate spread given the previous outcomes. The obvious choice is Boston +17 due to the massive reduced liability but who's to say the Cavs won't win by 18 or 38? The only question you have to ask is, how bad are the Celtics without Thomas?

The point is that to cover 16.5 you need another completely dominant, near perfect shooting night with all the calls going your way for the second straight game. It just happened with the line at 6 so the value was in the last game, it's long gone, and the perception that the last 2 games has built, because of squares like yourself, makes +16.5 the play for anyone who can actually cap. But thank god for fellas like you or we wouldn't get these juicy numbers in these situations. Now please stop typing in all caps it's super annoying.

Mad respect for ya Philly but in the past you've been burned by teams favored by 13+. I have too. You've stated that anything above 13 is hard to cover and I get it. There are a lot of variables that can allow a team to keep the game within the 13 or more but in this situation, I wonder if the books already know that many have your mindset? It's a historic line yet do you feel the Cavs don't know that? The Cavs not having home court becuase of the opposition they face tonite- you don't think the Cavs want to revisit the beatdown from game 2 that they gave the Celtics? This is a home game for the Cavs and with their dominance, why wouldn't not they want their home fans to see the dominance tonite? The Cavs, especially lebron are on a mission.....at least until they reach the finals. Lebron is gunning for all of Jordan's records and the Cavs are gunning for respect. For me.......this Cavs team is on cruise control and there is nothing the Celtics can do about it. Tonites game will be decided by the Cavs and if they want to rub it in or not. They showed no mercy in game 2 and I don't know if they show any tonite or in game 4. My thoughts buddy. Enjoy the game amigo.

Scalabrine-  Largest lead under 25.5 on 5dimes is a play of even more value in my opinion.  If celts get down 26, 20% chance they fight it back to 16.

Agree with the person who said it's like playing 4 on 5 defensively with Thomas out there.  Brown, Smart and Rozier much better rotation up top.

Watch today will be the day Gerald Green goes 5 for 8 from three. That guy is a hero in his own mind but if he's hitting......

Once he misses though you need to yank him because he'll miss 6 more.

Only way Boston is going to have a CHANCE to cover, if Cavs bench their starters after half time. And even then i feel, the bench would be pretty even with the C's.

One thing seems to be likely:Cavs are coming out blazin, probably want to get it done as soon as they can, so they can rest starters/not riskin injuries.

    Im playing -10 HT

    Game 2 -6. Game 3 -16. 6/16 =0.375. 0.375*46(game 2 win) = 17.25. It's in the numbers folks. Cavs by 17.

good luck for me the game is a waste of time.

cavs clearly going to win the series 4-0.  to me, what's the use getting points in a blowout

i don't do it for college football either. if a team is favored by 21, what's the use in playing it

I am at a loss for words with some of the salivating Cavs backers.

How soon we forget the Pacers series where they swept yes...and won by an average of 4 pts...

    @5dollarunit,
How bad is any NBA team w/o
    their reg. season & Playoffs
    leading scorer...(?)
    Ceteris paribus, worse off.

Early in the season, I. Thomas
fabricated a tailbone issue as an
    excuse if necessary because the
previous game vs. dah Bulls saw
Rondo make him look pretty bad,
bloody diminutive, what w/ 5 TOs
= most by any player that played,
and then a horrible Technical Foul
as he was humiliated 3 in-a-row
engineered by Rondo & dah Bulls.
And Celts lost ats by 6.5 points.

And last time IT was out, Celts
    lost to the 76ers
by 6 SU & lost ats by 11 points.

I honestly am not sure if you are simply trolling or if you are being serious. The latter means trouble.

Pacers were the one team in the east which could give Cavs a run for their money, they were matching up really well and Cavs werent deep in the PO-mode yet.
Now, they are close to 100% plus C's are a heavenly matchup for them, which was shown the last two and the last regular season game.

Now, demoralized, without the leader, from a hole too deep you are waiting for them to cover a spread "because its too big for vs nr1 seed", "because teams usually cover spreads like this" (this reason is my personal wtf favourite btw).

If i get burned on my HT bet i will graciously swallow it, sheit happens but everything points to another blowout.

    Ok here we  go :

    Game 1 @ Boston 117-104
    Game 2 @ Boston 130-86

Now Game 3 is in Cleveland without IT

    According to the Beatdowns GAME 1 & 2 .. 57 POINT BEAT DOWN COMBINEd  Divided by 2 = 28.5
Dont forget the Homecourt advantage soo maybe Cleveland - 30
    Sounds about right

Now you have a chance to get them -16 at home without IT
they shouldve been -16 + Both games on the road....
NOW YOU GET THEM AT HOME !!!!!!!!
I dont care if Lebron and Co rest because they rested in Game 2 and still spanked

I say the same to you that I said to others: NOTHING YOUSAID justifies layinga (record breaking) spread like this! NOTHING.

Why is the spread of 16 such a surprise in this new era of basketball? It's high for a reason. What line did you expect oddsmakers to put out?
