What do you thing about the rating system made by baseball-reference, based on run differential + strength of schedule ? According to this, for example, Milwaukee is slightly "better" than Philly.

The system plays for day 17...NYY (+36) vs Baltimore (-75)Chicago Cubs (+54) at Cincinnati (+30)Philladelphia (+42) vs Milwaukee (+2)Houston (+76) at Detroit (-56)T.B. Devil Rays (+57) at Miami (-91)Boston (+27) vs Colorado (-5)Minnesota (+50) vs LA Angels (0)Arizona (+19) vs Pittsburgh (-41)LA Dodgers (+53) vs S.D. (-11)Borderline selections for today...NYYMinnesotaLA DodgersNotes...Seattle's defense is terrible...actually factoring this in with it's plays now it's epic bad...Cincinnati is a strange anomaly this year...with a record of 18-23 they have been at the bottom of the NL Central most of the year...HOWEVER...they have consistently had a positive run differential and now sit at +30...which is good enough to place them 4th in the NL..went back and looked at their games and found the explanation...3 games where they crushed their opponents by a combined +33 pretty much makes the number...Great illustration of how run differential can be skewed...looking at strength of schedule might be a way to refine this...someone had mentioned this earlier and it will be worth investigating...

Just to clarify...Baltimore/NYY are playing a doubleheader...I didn't list game 1 and game 2 separately but the system will be taking both games...So add one more game to the system plays...Baltimore/NYY Game 2Also..my personal faves for today...Toronto/S.F. OVER 8...how is this line not 9 or 10??Washington RL +134Houston/Detroit OVER 10...EVEN...Astros can cover this number alone..Texas/K.C. OVER 9.5 .. +105T.B. Devil Rays RL -1.5 EVEN...Miami is just so bad...
If you like Houston to get 10 runs themselves towards the over, how can you not LOVE Houston as a personal favorite ??
Love your plays today BTW !!! Good Luck !!

Glad to help out ...it's time I started taking my own advice as well...Here are today's system plays...Philadelphia (+34) vs Milwaukee (+10)Oakland (-9) at Detroit (-67)Cleveland (-3) vs Baltimore (-79)Chicago Cubs (+55) at Cincinnati (+29)St. Louis (+27) at Atlanta (-6)Minnesota (+52) at Seattle (-12)Borderline plays will be...PhillyCubsSt. LouisToday, I am working in the "Simple Rating System" (SRS) from baseball-reference.com. Basically, any team with a 1.0 or greater advantage in the SRS is weighted with an advantage. This advantage, if the pitcher rating is close in my opinion, is being used to help weed in/weed out borderline plays...Today, the SRS weeded Oakland out of the borderline list...Best of luck today, gentlemen!...
