but the general crux of the theory is that the universe simply always was.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh so now you might believe that the universe is eternal? And when we believers say it was God that is eternal...He was always in existence with no beginning and no end you call us delusional and the whole belief absurd?...lol

Then you might as well just say you're delusional yourself and your belief just as absurd...lol

I would be more inclined to believe that God is the eternal one and not the universe because it is more logical and resonable to believe that an intelligent, personal living being could give physical life instead of non living matter such as the universe to give physical life to plants, animals, human beings.

Furthermore if the universe was eternal then no one would know that the universe exists. Stars, plantets, moons, wormholes or whatever else there is in a universe would be here all by itself and not know it because they are all inanimate objects or non living matter with no minds or intelligence.

I can't see how inanimate non living matter with no minds or intelligence could create physical living beings such as plants, animals and human beings...but I guess you can?

Please explain to us on how that is possible? How the eternal universe can one day decide it wants to be a creator of physical life such as creating plants, animals and human beings?

Well never mind because I know you can't...I'll just stick with my belief that God Almighty is the Creator of everything in existence.

What's more logical: a simpler solution or a more complex solution?

    Let's say something is eternal.

What makes more sense: the universe itself is eternal? OR
There is a being before the universe that is eternal that created the universe?

Seems more logical to stop at the first possible eternal entity. You keep going back through the chain of events until you reach the first entity to which the creation of which is presently uncertain: that would the universe itself. It makes no sense to go further back and declare something existing before that as eternal (or existing at all) until we have already established that the more recent entity is in fact not eternal.

Just because your brain is not developed enough to grasp this concept does not make it any less true. And once again, please note that every point I made is factually accurate and 100% true. My claims do not state something as the absolute truth, but merely the most logical theory given what we know. Zero of my points are opinions. Contrarily, if you read through SJD's posts, they are solely based on opinion and there is very little factual support to be found. I for one prefer the option with more facts behind it.

A being before the universe because as we all know the universe had a beginning (big bang). So God has to be the eternal one who set off the big bang!...ka boom!!

So if we know the universe had a beginning then it is not eternal.

Furthermore it makes more sense that an intelligent, living being (God Almighty) created other life forms such as plants, animals and human beings. Just because your brain is not developed enough to grasp this concept does not make it any less true.

I mean if you want to believe that stardust and comets and rocks and other lifeless non living matter floating around in the universe created physical life forms such as plants, animals and human beings go right ahead...lol

I laugh because that is absurd to say the least.

The fact that you laugh at random chance but you think MAGIC...let me repeat...MAGIC...LITERALLY ABRA KADABRA TYPE MAGIC... is realistic shows how utterly lost you are.

Oh and btw. I have already established as an absolute truth that we do NOT know the universe had a beginning. I will not repeat myself, but there is growing support for the theory that the universe is eternal. It is not fact, merely a theory. There are arguments supporting it. I posted the link a few pages back. You said "God has to be the eternal one who set off the big bang." Simply put: no he doesn't. You have offered 0 evidence supporting this. You lose.

I would rather believe in magic coming from a intelligent, supreme living being creating physical life forms such as plants, animals and human beings

than in magic coming from stardust and comets and rocks and other lifeless non living matter floating around in the universe creating physical life forms such as plants, animals and human beings.

Let's face it...you believe in magic too but the difference here is that your magic is coming from stardust and other lifeless debri floating around in the universe while mine is coming from a supreme living being.

wrong, what we're saying (if I can speak for you kitty) is that we don't know, but we learn more an more each day through science. you on the other hand don't know, but would rather take the easy way out (not think) and say the magic man in the sky did it...

You got it. I will only add that what we believe in is not magic. The only difference is you believe that what we believe was set into motion by a supreme being. We just remove the supreme being. So we merely remove the magic.

What is it then? Of course it is magic you believe in that is coming from stardust and other lifeless debris floating around in the universe if you don't believe God exists.

If you make the claim that God doesn't exist then what is left that could have created physical living beings such as plants, animals and human beings?

The only thing left is magic coming from stardust and other lifeless debris floating around in the universe...lol

how can you sit there and adamantly disagree with me when I say I believe God created all physical beings such as plants, animals and human beings?

You can't say you don't know but then say but I know it wasn't God because it is an outlandish claim.

Especially when we have historical evidence of the life, ministry, miracles and resurrection of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ.

There is no evidence that this magic actually occurred. However, the stardust creating the universe as you put it IS NOT MAGIC. You cannot say it is magic because everything that happened is within the laws of physics. What Jesus allegedly did and what god can do VIOLATES THE LAWS OF PHYSICS.

And that is what separates us from you. WE DO NOT BELIEVE IN ANYTHING THAT VIOLATES THE LAWS OF PHYSICS.

Are you guys still debating this?

I love how both sides think they are when the truth is, there is no way for any human on this planet to have the answer to this question. Why both sides cant grasp this is really amazing.

This question isnt like a question that say a teachers asks a kid on a test.  example question "what is 2 + 2 ?   well we all know with total certainty that the answer is 4

But the question of is God real or not cant be answered by us, its 100 percent impossible to do.

Now i side with what Sir John has wrote and how our bodies and everything around us is all just cant be random,  but there is still no way for us the believers that God exists to prove that.

Now all you non believers, there is no way you can prove that God doesnt exist.  Just because scientists say the stuff they find proves God doesnt exist, means they are right, because there is no for sure answer, like in my test example up above. These people are just humans and everything they discover is just opinion and their therory.  Where is the proof that everything they discover, wasnt created by God?  So think about that question for a minute, instead of just saying God doesnt exist.

Lastly to all you non believers,  you have certain ideas of how everything was created, so where is the proof that your own ideas of how everything was created wasnt created by God.

Am not gonna tell anybody to believe in God because am 100 percent right that he exists, but the people who dont believe in God shouldnt think they are 100 percent rioght either.

Us humans just dont have the answer. I hope am right and all you non believers are wrong, but who knows.

To me when i look around and see how complicated things are, i just say somebody had to have created all this, it cant just be random chance, but thats just my opinion.

I think a lot of you non believers are just pissed off with religion and thats why you have taken the stances you taken.  I dont blame you, todays religion and churches are all just about the dollars. Churches have become like mob families.  You have priests running around raping kids, etc etc for years with the churches just looking the other way to protect their cash flow coming in.

If there is a God, am sure all the people behind religion is gonna have some serious explaining to do someday

So come on guys lets end this and all just be friends, no matter which way you believe

    cd

The second law of thermodynamics shows that the universe cannot be eternal.......

If the universe was eternal, we would have already experienced the heat death.......

    Its very very simple

    1. All naturalistic things that begin to exist have a cause

    2. The universe began to exist

    3. Therefore the cause of the universe is non naturalistic

The answer is that we will will NEVER know whether or not God exists while we are living on this Earth.

Anyone claiming certainty on either side of the argument is a FOOL.  I believe God exists, but I also respect those that do not.  And this excellent article beautifully breaks down both sides.

Wizard of Oz, finally somebody that gets it.  Been trying to tell these guys thru out this whole thread, that its an impossible question neither side can answer, but yet both sides keep going back and forth like they are right.

We don't need to, just like you don't need to prove that the flying spaghetti monster doesn't exist. You need to prove a god exists, until then it doesn't.

And it doesn't really matter if there was a "god" that created everything (although I don't think there was), but don't try to feed me this bs of these gods of religion....
