Does God exist? The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today.

Many examples showing God's design could be given, possibly with no end. But here are a few:

Water...colorless, odorless and without taste, and yet no living thing can survive without it. Plants, animals and human beings consist mostly of water (about two-thirds of the human body is water). You'll see why the characteristics of water are uniquely suited to life:

It has an unusually high boiling point and freezing point. Water allows us to live in an environment of fluctuating temperature changes, while keeping our bodies a steady 98.6 degrees.

Water is a universal solvent. This property of water means that thousands of chemicals, minerals and nutrients can be carried throughout our bodies and into the smallest blood vessels.

Water is also chemically neutral. Without affecting the makeup of the substances it carries, water enables food, medicines and minerals to be absorbed and used by the body.

Water has a unique surface tension. Water in plants can therefore flow upward against gravity, bringing life-giving water and nutrients to the top of even the tallest trees.

Water freezes from the top down and floats, so fish can live in the winter.

Ninety-seven percent of the Earth's water is in the oceans. But on our Earth, there is a system designed which removes salt from the water and then distributes that water throughout the globe.

Evaporation takes the ocean waters, leaving the salt, and forms clouds which are easily moved by the wind to disperse water over the land, for vegetation, animals and people. It is a system of purification and supply that sustains life on this planet, a system of recycled and reused water.

It is possible that god exists and is undetectable by science. It is possible our realm is not the only one. It is possible that science may be unable to detect another realm.

HOWEVER, in my life I have only experienced this realm. I have never seen any evidence of anything beyond this realm. If there is another realm, it has yet to impact my life or the lives of anyone on this planet. Therefore, I have no reason to believe there is anything beyond this realm.

Howerver, absence of evidence is certainly not evidence of existence. If someone wants to prove something, they must provide some justification...

I wanna give credit to Rostos for at least TRYING to make arguments, however flawed they may be.

I will translate the crux of SJD's posts to save everyone the time: "Whoa! Look at all this stuff on earth! I am too stupid to comprehend that this could be an accident. Therefore, since we don't know the actual answer, I'm gonna assume it was some magical being for which no empirical evidence actually exists! Yeah! That makes sense!"

Does God exist? The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today.

Many examples showing God's design could be given, possibly with no end. But here are a few:

The human brain...simultaneously processes an amazing amount of information. Your brain takes in all the colors and objects you see, the temperature around you, the pressure of your feet against the floor, the sounds around you, the dryness of your mouth, even the texture of your keyboard. Your brain holds and processes all your emotions, thoughts and memories. At the same time your brain keeps track of the ongoing functions of your body like your breathing pattern, eyelid movement, hunger and movement of the muscles in your hands.

The human brain processes more than a million messages a second. Your brain weighs the importance of all this data, filtering out the relatively unimportant. This screening function is what allows you to focus and operate effectively in your world. The brain functions differently than other organs. There is an intelligence to it, the ability to reason, to produce feelings, to dream and plan, to take action, and relate to other people.

Yo guys, I think I'm done.  This is like talking to a brick wall.  A brick wall that believes in fantasy-land.

These guys aren't providing any real answers or evidence, only revealing how idiotic of a concept religion really is.  It sounds like anybody can believe in just about ANY wacky man-made myth, provide zero evidence that ANY of it is based in reality, and then fall back on the whole "well, you can't PROVE there isn't an invisible man who started everything, so therefore it must be" twisted logic.

Well, for the believers, I've done a little research and I think I've settled on a religion!  Science just isn't doing it for me anymore.  I can't get past the fact that it only seems to answer 99.99999999% of my questions.  With religion, I can totally discard common sense and blame everything on a god.  I'm going with the ancient Greeks.  Zeus is my god now.  Go ahead and prove he doesn't exist, and that you're right and I'm wrong.  You can't, so suck a dick.

Does God exist? The universe operates by uniform laws of nature. Why does it?

Much of life may seem uncertain, but look at what we can count on day after day: gravity remains consistent, a hot cup of coffee left on a counter will get cold, the earth rotates in the same 24 hours, and the speed of light doesn't change -- on earth or in galaxies far from us.

How is it that we can identify laws of nature that never change? Why is the universe so orderly, so reliable?

"The greatest scientists have been struck by how strange this is. There is no logical necessity for a universe that obeys rules, let alone one that abides by the rules of mathematics. This astonishment springs from the recognition that the universe doesn't have to behave this way. It is easy to imagine a universe in which conditions change unpredictably from instant to instant, or even a universe in which things pop in and out of existence."

Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize winner for quantum electrodynamics, said, "Why nature is mathematical is a mystery...The fact that there are rules at all is a kind of miracle."

    Flawed?

Funny how i get my arguments from one of the greatest philosophers of our time, William Lane Craig who has debated dozens of the highest of academia around the globe, continually crushes them....so much so one of the most outspoken atheists Richard Dawkins REFUSES to debate him despite recieving invitaion after invatition for a fear of getting crushed........

So, WLCs arguments do not get refuted at the highest level of academia , yet a few Covers posters seem to refute them....

Whatever makes you happy.....You going to bed at night THINKING you refute these arguments is like me going to bed thinking i can beat Lebron in a game of one on one...

    Whatever floats your boat....

The reality is, NONE of you have refuted my arguments about the origins of the universe, in fact , everytime i mention it i recieve ad homins....

I mention the moral argument, you claim morals are subjective, then when i give a live real example, you become very defensive and start arguing that i am wrong to think such a scenario is right....contradicting your original view.

And this isnt even the start of it.....oh dear...

Huh? Is it okay for you, as a Christian, to lie?

Oh and why on earth do you get your arguments from one person? I agree with Dawkins and Hitchens on a lot of things but I try to make my own arguments. Using my own COMMON SENSE.

Does God exist? The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today.

The eye...can distinguish among seven million colors. It has automatic focusing and handles an astounding 1.5 million messages -- simultaneously.

Evolution focuses on mutations and changes from and within existing organisms. Yet evolution alone does not fully explain the initial source of the eye or the brain -- the start of living organisms from nonliving matter.

(and my atheists friends like kitty & system believe everything is all an accident...tsk!...tsk!...tsk!)

I watched the second debate and it was really good. I still side with Hitchens though. His arguments just make so much sense and the religion of Christianity comes across looking rather hypocritical and lacking evidence or credibility.

I don't claim anything that isn't true. Morals are subjective. That is a fact. There is tangible proof of that.

We don't have to refute your arguments 100%. You provided evidence that science believes the universe had a beginning. I provided evidence that there is a line of thought that the universe always existed. Neither theory has been proven true or false, but the mere fact that both exist and are plausible establishes that neither can be considered a fact.

Rostos you must understand what "flawed" means. I am not saying that what you point out can't be true. It very well may be. But your arguments are flawed because they assume that everyone follows the theory or theories you choose to showcase, which isn't the case.

SJD just keeps posting things that show how unintelligent he really is. "I'm too stupid to understand probability and randomness so I will just assume some magical being intentionally designed it all for no apparent reason." Yeah, leep laughing at us, but everyone sees how incredibly stupid you sound when you say that.

All he does is make the fallacious argument that the world is too complex to have come about by accident. He can't comprehend the fact that it became gradually complex over billions and billions of years and for all we know, this was on the billionth trial that life actually formed. Apparently, to him, it is much more plausible that a magical being meticulously designed every little aspect of everything in the entire universe

Ok, so what that Norweigian guy did where he killed those 70 odd INNOCENT teenagers that day is NOT OBJECTIVELY wrong?

So in you world view, if i said what that guy did was right, good on him...the ONLY thing you can say is, "well, i dont agree with you, but you certainly arent wrong"....

    Try living that out.....

Let me start a thread saying what that guy did was good, good on him and i agree what happened and sucked into the families of those teenagers....

Lets see what happens....when i apply your morality, you will see how flawed it is...

You can post that. But no one will agree with you. You have completely failed to make an argument. You have said NOTHING. What is your point? Because I don't see it. If you think that killing 70 people is ok, then fine. I disagree with you and so do a lot of other people.

IT IS 100% TRUE. INDISPUTABLE. THAT MORALS ARE SUBJECTIVE.

If you have a counterargument, I'm waiting.

Everyone is after scientific evidence for Gods existence.

I have heard people here say, that unless scientific evidence is provided, then they wont believe....

If God exists, is he only making himself available to the intellectual of society, ie, scientists? So, you are going to base your life on what science tells you?

Science is always progressing, meaning there is more scientific advancement now than their was 1000 years ago....

If God exists, wouldnt he be made known to anyone, regardless of IQ, colour, height, where you are born etc etc?

Suppose 1000 years down the track, science finds evidence for God, does that mean people today when they die like Kittykatz, and meet God will say, well, there wasnt any scientific evidence for your existence, therefore i am not to blame?

Really? You think that will go down?

Rather, you are all looking in the wrong place. To find God , you simply have to look at a platform where he is accesable to anyone, everyone , regardless of who, what where or how you are....That is, within yourself, in your conscience, EVERYONE has access to that.

If you want to find evidence of God before you believe, then what about someone who is born deaf, blind and dyslexic who doesnt have the cognitive faculties to make an assesment of the evidence.

Does that mean, that person misses out? You really think God is going to make himself only accesable to people of intellect, money?

This isnt a case for evidence for or against, rather, your statement that you will only believe if you find evidence is flawed....

You are looking in the wrong place....

Thats the point, no one will agree with me, but that is no different to me posting a link of a 4 foot 250 pound girl who and me saying this woman is alot hotter than Kate Upton and i would take her anyday over Kate Upton...

People will not agree with me, but i am not wrong...

You are wrong. You are wrong relative to my beliefs. You are wrong relative to many people's beliefs. You are wrong relative to society. There are countless numbers of ways you are wrong.

However, there is one way that you are indisputably NOT wrong. You are NOT absolutely wrong. Because that is impossible. Nothing is absolutely wrong because everything is relative.

Since you love examples so much...

Johnny killed Billy. (my reaction: this is wrong)
Johnny killed Billy because Billy was about to kill Mike (my reaction: this is acceptable)
Johnny killed Billy because Billy was about to kill Mike, but Mike was about to detonate a bomb that would kill thousands of people (my reaction: Johnny was wrong).
Johnny killed Billy, but Johnny lives in a society where everyone named Billy deserves to be killed (my reaction: I think Johnny lives in a shitty society but I can't say what he did was wrong because he was just doing what he thought was acceptable)

I can go on all day but I feel the point is made. Whether Johnny's act of killing Billy was wrong kept changing based on the circumstances. This applies universally to all actions.

YES, but i am not ABSOLUTELY WRONG, therefore, you cannot say i am wrong. Therefreo you cannot criticise me...You see all the problems this runs into?

However, there is one way that you are indisputably NOT wrong. You are NOT absolutely wrong. Because that is impossible. Nothing is absolutely wrong because everything is relative.

All he does is make the fallacious argument that the world is too complex to have come about by accident. He can't comprehend the fact that it became gradually complex over billions and billions of years and for all we know, this was on the billionth trial that life actually formed.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

You are just guessing now...lol Where is the evidence that on the billionth trial life was formed?...lol

But hey if you want to have it your way ok...on the billionth trial life was formed...all by the design of an intelligent personal Creator (God Almighty) who created everything in existence because it is illogical to think an accident can cause something to come into existence from nothing. We all know that the universe had a start (big bang)...
