An event would have to occur that could not attributed to logic or reason. This event would have to be confirmed true beyond a reasonable doubt. An event that cannot be explained due to lack of knowledge or technology is insufficient. Example: at one point in time, lightning was believed to be the work of god. Later on, humans discovered why lightning occurs. God cannot merely be a gap filler, but must be the undeniable source.

Examples of things that would convince me:

Someone dead for more than 1 full day comes back to life.
    I see a ghost/angel/something of the sort.
    God speaks to me.
    Jesus speaks to me.
God or Jesus speak to anyone and I see it.
    An amputee's lost limb returns.
I witness something disappear into thin air.
A dead person speaks to me.

There are more obviously, but this should make it clear along the lines of what it would take to make me believe. It would have to be an event that cannot possibly be ascribed to logic or reason, but at the same time, be one where the mere fact that it happened is enough to prove god's existence. In other words, it's not something where humans will discover the answer to or reason behind in the future; it's clearly supernatural.

An in response to Mugg: 1. Yeah it looks like god really hates the Japanese; after all, he's pretty much wiped them out 3 times in the past 65 years. 2. I'm not asking for absolute proof, just proof beyond a reasonable doubt (but as we know, there is no way anyone can meet this burden of proof)

I will say this with certainty. If there is a god, he certainly, undeniably, and positively is NOT all-good.

I see what you are saying and alot of non believrs say the same thing. Let me ask you, to believe, why does the existence of God have to be in accordance with YOUR CRITERIA?

To me, the conditions are the ones God's set out and i adjust and believe according to his conditions. I dont set out my conditions and make him adjust to mine.

It is what it is and we should believe and live accordingly.

"without faith it is impossible to please [God], for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6, NKJV).

Was religion your own choice or was it forced upon you? Be honest here. Was it forced upon from the time you were an infant?

Right, but I am a human being with a brain. I will NEVER accept something on faith. I understand that I need faith to accept god, but I don't want faith, I want proof, or at least substantial evidence (proof beyond a reasonable doubt). You and I both know there is not enough evidence in the world to establish proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I can use my own conditions because god didn't set out any conditions for his existence. He just said to "believe." I'm sorry but I can't accept that. That isn't mathematical or scientific, which is how my brain is wired to operate.

    God's Message for You

What is God's message for you? Read the amazing book the Bible carefully, looking for how God worked in the lives of people many years ago. Then look deeper to discover the timeless truths that can be applied to the lives of people today. Look for ways that God's timeless truths apply to you. How does he want your life to change? As God speaks to you through his holy word, do what you know he wants you to do---obey him. James 1:22-25 says, "But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you hear, the God will bless you for doing it."

Welcom to God's life-changing message for you. Welcome to the Bible.

    Praise the Lord Almighty!!

Here are three things you must do in order to know Jesus personally as your Lord and Savior.

    1. Recognize that you are a sinner. "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard" (Romans 3:23). "As the scriptures say, 'No one is righteous---not even one' " (Romans 3:10). Because everyone is a sinner, no one deserves eternal life with God in heaven. In addition, no one can work hard enough to earn this life. Instead, God gives eternal life to everyone who believes that Jesus Christ is his Son. Before you can appreciate what Jesus has done for you, you need to recognize that you are a sinner in need of God's forgiveness. If you never acknowledge this, you will never receive God's forgiveness for your sins. And you will never enter into heaven.

    2. Ask Jesus to forgive you. "Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault" (Colossians 1:22). If you reconize that you are a sinner, then you may be ready to ask Jesus to forgive you. Do you believe that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, who died to pay for your sins? If you do and you have never thanked Christ for dying for you, thank him right now in a simple prayer. Pray, "Lord, I thank you for paying for the sins I have committed. I give my life to you. Teach me the right way to live. Amen."

    3. Turn away from your sins. "Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them. So they can't keep on sinning, because they are children of God" (1 John 3:9). As a Christian, you may sin from time to time. But you should not continue to live a sinful lifestyle. Putting your faith in Jesus means that you are willingly turning away from you old sinful nature. It also means that you are living to please God. You can live to please God by obeying the commands he has given everyone in the Bible. If you obey God, you can be sure that you are a Christian and will one day have eternal life in heaven.

System I get it already, you are a non-believer so why do you continue to come to this thread to confront a believer of the Lord Almighty?

I am reaching out to people who want to believe, who are seeking a purpose for their lives, who want to know and understand God and accept that Jesus Christ his Son is mankind's Savior.

I can't convince you the Lord exists anymore than you can convince me that he doesn't exist. So with that said I am not going to debate you about who is right...it is pointless. I am a believer and you're a non-believer and let's just leave it at that.

Perhaps someday you'll experience something in your life that might change your perspective on the existence of the Lord Almighty. As for me I know I can't change because I am filled with the Holy Spirit in my heart.

It is easier to believe in "proof" than it is based on faith.  It's not easy to believe in God for a reason..it's set up by design.  If that's too hard for you to understand, then maybe your not very spiritual. Everyone takes leaps of faith in their daily life without even knowing it.
You get in the car to drive w/ the faith of knowing you'll get there safely.
You put your "faith" in that restuarant that they wont serve you contaminated food.
You put your "faith" into a relationship that it will flourish.

    etc..

After 400+ posts in this thread, and about the same in the other one - only one thing is totally clear to me:

Jesus has terrible representatives at covers.

He must be so pissed that his advocates can do nothing but mindlessly post scripture, ignore all debatable points, repeat mantras over and over, and not even engage the discussion at hand.  Do you people think you are doing anything to advance the cause of your god?  Dont you think you should be trained in your position enough to debate oncomers who have a different viewpoint?

These threads have been an excercise in avoidance for the jesus folks.  I think your god is ashamed of you.

I could care less if you believe or not. I'm just here to ask questions (notice the title of this thread), and give people something to think about. Don't you think they should get the whole story before they believe or not
Probably not, you just want them to go on blind faith
Unfortunately, I wasn't given the whole story until late in my life.

And you're right, it is pointless to debate with you, because all you do is post verses from the bible that fit your purpose and say praise the lord almighty...

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read.  I don't drive because I have faith.  I drive because I have come to terms with the fact that it's possible I could get hit by someone else and be seriously injured or die.  But the alternative for me (not driving) isn't possible.  It has nothing to do with faith.  It has everything to do with accepting that there are possible bad outcomes from the activity and living with that.  WOW.

I also snowmobile.  I've flipped my sled once going around a corner and I've also run into a tree.  Do I sled because I have faith?  No, I sled because I enjoy it and I have come to terms with the risk.

That is a great question, and something I just don't get? Why (If their was such a thing) would it even care? Doesn't that sound more like something man would care about?

    The Book of Genesis

The author of Genesis was Moses written 1450-1410 B.C.

As it name implies, Genesis is the book of beginnings. It starts with the creation of the world and every living creature in it. It records the first marriage, the first sin, the first consequences of sin, and the first reference to God's future plan to redeem humanity. After recounting the stories of the Flood and the Tower of Babel, Genesis also tells the story of the birth of a nation---Israel. The story begins as God calls Abraham, the father of the Israelites, to leave his hometown, Ur (located in modern-day Iraq), and move to Canaan--the land God promised his decendants. Eventually, the Redeemer of the world would come from the decendants of Abraham. The story then shifts to the exploits of Isaac, Abraham's son, and then to Jacob, Abraham's grandson. Genesis concludes with the remarkable experiences of Joseph.

    Praise the Lord Almighty!!

Your god is ashamed of the mindless drivel you post.

Use your brain.  Post something original.  Be a good witness for your god, not one that makes everone repel.
