to travel with white people in texas or is it more of an unwritten rule?

This was a little girl in the car with two grown men, sleeping at a gas station in the middle of the night. I think the police had a valid cause for concern. Yes, the reasonable thing to do would have been to call the mother to confirm the notarized letter, but to make this a race issue is ridiculous.

This was an idiot move by the police no matter what the race of the guardians were.  They took every precaution (notarized letter) and the police just completely ignored it.  What a joke.

Unfortunately, it's called 'probable cause'.  And if she was found in a ditch a day later the police would be on the hot seat.
Notarized letters can be forged.  And some criminals are very smart.  
Just ask Jeffrey Dahmer when he took the little kid from the cops and ended up killing him.  
Nobody once to err on the side of caution but love to point fingers when things go wrong.

   I think by rule cops usually look into cars on side of freeways or people sleeping in their cars.  It just so happened that this incident looked suspicious to them.

Handcuffing can be a form of detention

Handcuff for officer safety.  Once he gets put in the holding cell he will be uncuffed.

The child could have been sold to them by mommy, kidnapped, a runaway, etc etc. 

If it was your child I'm sure you would expect the same.

It's a crappy incident but sometimes they gotta be thorough and follow police procedure.

Lets get fukng real people. STOP AND LOOK. Houston is in the top 5 in the USA for children/human trafficking. IT IS A KNOWN. Seeing 2 mid-20's black men with a 13 YEAR OLD WHITE GIRL all sleeping in a car at 3 am SHOULD RAISE SOME FUKING RED FLAGS. What would any 13 year old be doing sleeping a car at 3am UNLESS it was with HER PARENTS. You guys are morons. The cops had NO CHOICE but to DETAIN THEM ALL to get the story straight. IF THEY WERE OR HAD KIDNAPPED THAT 13 year old how else would the cops have sorted this out unless they were all DETAINED ? 

THAT SCENE JUST LOOKED WRONG AND THAT COP SHOULD BE COMMENDED FOR HIS ACTIONS. 

WHAT IF ? PEOPLE ? THEN WHAT ?

Is he dark skinned black or light skinned black?   That's makes a big difference here. 
    Is he black as in American-Black or is he Nigerian black?  That makes a difference also.

makes no difference what color the cop was.  there are plenty of minority cops out there.  they profile just like white cops. 

you guys can justify this if you want, it's ok as long as it happens to other people, but it's pretty scary when black people can get arrested for being with a white person and the justification is, well, this or that could have happened.  if that's a legitimate justification for handcuffing someone and taking them away, when couldn't the cops do it? 

but it's all fun and games as long as it happens to those other people.

You make no sense.  It says the mom gave those 2 guardianship.  Has nothing to do with cops.  And "looking into this further" could have easily been just a phone call to the mom.  

"Established guardianship for the trip."  What part of that don't you understand?

Yes, most likely to give the administrator/organizer of the dance competition permission that her daughter can dance and those guys are her guardian.
What cop do you know will accept a letter of guardianship without further investigation?   

And how do suppose they are able to get a valid phone number?  Yea, dumb cop is gonna get a random number from these guys to clear them.  Yea that's real smart.
