I am not an SEC fan and being from Texas follow Big12 football closely.

Clearly LSU or Alabama defense would neutralize OSU offense. Past years OU teams that went to NC game against USC and Fla just could not compete.

That being said I would still rather have anyone other than LSU/Bama playing again - we already saw that

there's no reason for Bama to play them again..

they already did, at home, and lost... so what's going to change?

comparing Bama and Okie St based on total season resume easily favors OSU.. + Bama already had their shot and blew it.. y do they get another chance?

just seems silly.. Bama may be the 2nd best team, but it's hard to know considering they only played 2 top 30 teams.. Okie State would have played 8.. and beaten 7..

again, if you compare resumes.. OSU > Bama and its not close..

A game in OT that could have gone either way, now with National Championship implications could also go either way. Kind of a dumb question...

comparing Bama and Okie St based on total season resume easily favors OSU.. + Bama already had their shot and blew it.. y do they get another chance? - I completely disagree... Bama plays in the SEC ,and Ok st plays teams out of the SEC. The lost to an unranked team, struggled against Texas AM, and had 30+ points scored on them by Tulsa, and La Laf. They are a complete joke when compared to Bama.

Wrong... Bama plays in the SEC, Ok st doesn't... Bama would destroy all the teams Ok st struggled against.

OK so just so I can confirm..

Bamas main argument for being the #2 team in the nation is that it lost a close game at home in OT to the #1 team in the country.,.

so I ask, if that close loss is more important than an entire seasons work?

If you think it is, fine.. that's your opinion..

but you cannot dispute the facts that in basically every h2h category between Okie St and Bama, OSU's resume is far more impressive..

    more top 25 wins
    more top 50 wins
    better SOS
    won its conference
beat more teams with winning records

I mean, the only thing Bama fans have going for them is the close loss to Bama (a game in which Bama should have won).. if you take that as your only case.. than fine..

I like to look at an entire body of work when comparing teams with the same record, which is y OSU stands out to me way more than Bama and its one night home game loss to LSU in which they scored 2 Fgs..

I mean, the only thing Bama fans have going for them is the close loss to Bama (a game in which Bama should have won).. if you take that as your only case.. than fine..

I like to look at an entire body of work when comparing teams with the same record, which is y OSU stands out to me way more than Bama and its one night home game loss to LSU in which they scored 2 Fgs..

that system was bad too,i support a playoff,my argument is based on what i think what would happen if there was a playoff, and im also of the opinion that Bama would beat A& M,and Iowa st really bad 2 teams that ok st struggled against this is why i think Alabama is 2nd best team in nation, and i have seen overhyped big 12 teams get in bcs title games before and get there asses kicked,i dont ever need to see another overhyped big 12 team in the bcs title game, and i do think Oklahoma St fits that description.and also if theres no playoff,i would rather just do away with bcs all together and have pac-big 10 rose, fiesta, orange, cotton, sugar all played on Jan 1,i dont need college football played into 2nd week of january.

Let me sum this whole thing up.... SEC fans say that the SEC is the hardest... they are right.... most other fans say that their conf. is the hardest... they are wrong...

everyone has their own opinion... some people's opinions are flawed.. this is the case with anyone who thinks the SEC is not the best conf. in NCAAF.

    Simple!

more top 25 wins - SO? Those aren't SEC teams...
more top 50 wins - Still not SEC teams...
better SOS - They play in the Big 12

beat more teams with winning records - Pretty easy to do that in the Big 12 against pathetic teams.

I mean, the only thing Bama fans have going for them is the close loss to Bama (a game in which Bama should have won).. if you take that as your only case.. than fine.. - No, they have the fact that they DESTROYED every single team they played all season long, have the best defense in the nation, and BARELY lost in OT to the #1 team in the Nation. There is NO other resume like that one.

the bottom half of the sec this year is really down..that said , OK ST would have 2 OR 3  losses amongest LSU , ALA , GA , ARK and USC...

they just don't see the team speed that the top sec teams have on defense...

Guys, I don't know why this argument is still going on. Ice has never been wrong since he first appeared in this forum (under his current name) in December 2008. If he says OSU should play LSU for the NC, then it must be so. He has told us OSU has the best collegiate offense in the land. Although it has nothing to do with his being a homer, his assertion that the Big 12 is the best conference in the land must be accepted, and their champion MUST be included in the National Championship. All this discussion of football is beside the point.

    see ya!

Because you have clearly shown that you have an open mind in this thread.

LSU would crush Oklahoma St. in a Championship game and I hope that is way it plays out to shut up dipshits like yourself. The SEC has bigger, faster and stronger athletes top to bottom than any other conference. Oregon has a very good and speedy offense and can put up points but their D is awful and that's been proven when they have played the SEC recently. Oklahoma St. is the same. They have a great offense but their D sucks. The SEC plays better defense than any other conference. AND you can count last years NC game because Oregon is playing with most of the same players.

They only seem that way because LSU and Bama are so far ahead of them. Against the rest of the nation, they are still the elite for the most part. And of course these teams aren't ranked when the rest of the nation is getting all these style points against pathetic defenses, while the SEC is beating up on each other in close defensive games.

UGA lost to Boise at home
SC is without Lattimore and a borderline top 25 team - UGA is no where near Bama and LSU, however if they played Boise right now I think they would beat them. In the same respect, Arkansas beat Texas AM, SC beat Clemson, Ga beat Ga tech, LSU beat Oregon, and WV.

and that's it.. the rest of the SEC is absolute piss... Not really at all... Top to bottom, they are still better than any other conference out there.

    SatNIghtFever-

It's useless to argue with those two Alabama homers. They refuse to believe that LSU beat them fair and square. Last time i looked, special teams and coaching was part of being a "team". Yet they still cry and complain in a bunch of threads about how Alabama should have won that game. They also spout non-sense about how the SEC is so superior. That is such bullshit and i am a SEC supporter. The conference is way down this year, yet they refuse to believe it. For years i bashed they Pac-10 and their style of football but with Oregon, USC, and Stanford, they have three very strong teams, Same with the Big 12. Ultimately i think LSU and Alabama could beat most of those teams, but as a conference the SEC is down this year. They also refuse to believe that Alabama's defense played a bunch of sorry offensive teams this year and that helped pad those statistics. They just rant and rave about how good their team and the SEC is and when they can't have it their way they will just start calling you names and cussing you out like a couple of 12 year old kids. I really want to see the rematch and see LSU kick Alabama's ass so these two can STFU!!! But they will probably still make excuses about how the Superdome is a home game for LSU even though they know that it is not. Until then i woudn't even waste my time trying to discuss the game with those two homers.

Not that I care what you think, but I want to clarify a few things. I made an entire thread on the game about our loss to LSU, and congratulated them on their win. Regarding that game, I have clearly stated that they are the best team in the nation right now, and they beat us in that game. Do I think the better team won in that game
? No, and I am with the majority of the nation on that one. A few calls go the other way, and we win that game. It was an evenly matched game, and a rematch would be another all out war. Why? Because these are the two best teams in the nation, and everyone else is a complete step down, and that includes any team in the Big 12.

Secondly, the perception of the SEC this season by all of you people is quite laughable. Everyone thinks that because LSU and Bama beat the crap out of everyone in the SEC that they are a step down this season. Nothing could be farther from the truth... The SEC is still the most dominant conference in all of CF, and top to bottom better than any other conference out there. They are ranked they way they are because they are all evenly
matched, physical teams. You can deny that all you want, but it's the truth, and you don't need me to tell it to you. The SEC has proved that for the past 5  seasons, and until another conference can come in and prove them differently, the fact remains.

SNF... i appreciate seeing you in here picking up this debate...

it is funny to me, that there will always only be 4 or 5 people agreeing with me, and 20 or 30 disagreeing... but look at the people on either side?

they are the people who have been here, doing this, establishing a solid reputation for having a very high-level knowledge base in this game... like me, you, BookieAssassin, JimmydaFreak, JWheels... and the guys on the other side are all 15 posts, joined in Nov 2011, or they have fucking Alabama logos on their page...

do they not even realize at some level that they have a bias?

i will take the 4 that know their shit and have proven that over many seasons, over the 20 idiots who will be gone next month, ANY DAY... and as if i needed it, this just lends even more weight to the argument...

look at who is on either side of this argument... objectively and intelligently... when your allies are all idiots... does it not occur to you that you might be fighting the wrong battle?
