I haven't pulled the trigger yet on that game but i see everybody all over Ok. St. They looked good blasting Oklahoma but the Sooners have mailed in the season and they were incredibly banged up as well. Stanford won't give up and Luck should put up plenty of points against that defense. Hopefully the line will hit +4 and i will jump on it then.
I think the Oklahoma State/Stanford game is one of the more intriguing matchups of the bowl season because it matches teams with contrasting styles. I think Oklahoma State's defense will have a lot of trouble matching up with Stanford in the trenches, but I also think Stanford's defense will have trouble matching up with Oklahoma State's speed and athleticism.
In these situations it is often wise to roll with the team that has the better QB, but I think that's pretty even. Therefore, I will roll with the team that has the better defense and getting points. So as of right now I lean Stanford and the points.

I never said it was ok for LSU to jump ahead of UGA. I have also never wasn't either. I said that while I have specific recollection of the games that were played that season, I have no recollection of how the rankings played out in the last few weeks of the season. Thus, I can't carry on an intelligent conversation about it. The only thing I remember was the #2 ranked team lost about 4 or 5 weeks in a row.
I don't have a problem with a team jumping over another team even if both teams won on a given week. But I think it's much more justifiable in the beginning of the season when much less is known about the relative strength of teams. I think the deeper you go into a season, the less it should be done however.
I really don't have any problem with Oklahoma State jumping Stanford, and, therefore, agree with your concluding sentence. What I have problem with is people acting like coaches who didn't think Oklahoma State should jump Stanford (a position I agree with in this particular instance) are Article III traitors to college football and the United States of America.
jimmy i don't think it's going to matter , i think LSU will win the game as i think that Miles and his staff are just better in bowl situations than Saban and his staff , not the Saban is bad , I just think the LSU staff is better than anyone in the country.

Not to mention OU was the Pre-Season #1 and OSU made them look like High School in Stillwater. They can't help Ou got an Rb and WR hurt and lost to TT and dropped so low.
Roll Shit hasn't beat anybody. And there is no debate about that. They are clinging to a good loss now that is as box as it gets.
Apparently we beat the right teams to get us to the National Championship moron...

You may be right, but LSU better figure out a way to score more than 3 points on Alabama's defense this go around.

another simple-minded Covers response... turning an objective issue into a subjective one...
i have no opinion of Alabama, good or bad! that is a completely moot point... and yet again, somebody without a REAL argument, has to turn it into something it isn't...
how can anybody in their right mind believe this is the right outcome...
consider this, because it is a stone cold FACT: Alabama is #2 right now, because they were #1 in the pre-season polls... and they were #1 in the pre-season polls BECAUSE people looked at their schedule and considered them to be the odds on favorite...
so, in other words... they are now (at the end of the season) being rewarded for a poll (at the start of the season) that was predicated on them being able to run the table with a ridiculously easy schedule...
chew on that!
and to Hawk... i have never said i think the Big 12 is better than the SEC... i have said that the SEC is incredibly overrated this year, which it is... and the reason i point it out, is because people (a) are too stupid to figure that out for themselves, and (b) need to know this to make an informed voting decision...
whether or not the Big 12 is better than the SEC has no bearing on this discussion, and has no bearing on who deserves to play for a NC... because the fact remains: Oklahoma St played a SIGNIFICANTLY harder schedule than Alabama... Okie St had more quality wins (by a lot)... and Okie St won their fucking conference (Alabama did not)
all you guys do is post bullshit non-responsive comebacks insulting me as a person... but to you i say... if that is the best you got... i'm still better than you as a person, because i can actually make a fucking argument for what i have to say, without having to solely base my argument on something to do with you as a person...
you are some weak-ass mother fuckers... and i will exclude Jimmy, because he at least made an attempt at an argument, though i don't agree with it's validity... those other coaches did not have a vested interest in the matter... Saban was flat out wrong to not put Okie St at #3... Stanford did not beat Oklahoma by 34 points this week (and neither did Alabama, for that matter)... and before you talk shit about OU... last time they played Stanford (with Andrew Luck)... OU pushed their shit all over the field...
Love it!!! Absolutely great response. I enjoyed ready that and shutting all of the fuck turd's mouths. By the way, I completely agree with you. Okie State should be playing in the National Championship and Saban slapped them right in the face and rubbed er in a bit.

BCS is officially a complete fraud... needless to say...
never again can ANYBODY use the argument that every game is a playoff... if they do... just take them into your backyard and bury their sorry asses alive... there is ZERO chance anybody with that level of ignorance can bring anything positive to this rotting planet...
end their existence, and don't bother asking for forgiveness... God supports it, i assure you!

or you could just accept your wrong and also this is just a game and your life is more important.
SEC is king, accept it and move on, the best 2 teams are in; and the best conference will win a NC again,

Not sure why you keep referencing 3 points that LSU scored against the bama defense instead of the 9 points they scored. Also Alabama beter figure out a way to score more than 6 points if they want to win this game.

I'm an Auburn fan., but Saban is nothing more then a great coolege football coach. Do not blame him for that vote, it is feasable although I agree that OSO should be ranked higher and the fact is in any other sport it really would not matter, they would get a fair shot as would 6 other teams that all could win the championship. Go bacjk and see hoe many #1 seeds in lowe college football going into the play-offs actually win the championship. This id because the object of sports is to practice and get better weekly and the best team at the end of the year win, not the teams ranked higher at the start or teams that are human and have an off day lose one game at the end of the season instead of early on. NFL, Baseball, all sports but college football...research the past ten years and see hoe few #1 or #2 seeds actually win out. The numbers are very small. The current system is a box's way out, all about comfort for those at the top and it is amazing how many are brainwashed into believing even a 4 team set-up decides anything. This is sports, not figure skating. Leave the voting to those exhibitions, decide a champion on the field. It really suxs being deprived of what would be the best scenario of all of sport in favor of voting. PLEASE SOMEBODY...SHOW THE ENTIRE DIV 2 PLAY-OFFS, THEY COUNT AND ARE REAL, NOT AN EXHIBITION...
Back to the thread...Saban blew the first game, trying the last three field goals after missing the first. Does not matter if he had the leg to kick it 90 yds, it has to go thru the uprights. Had he punted LSU inside the 20, LSU had no chance driving on Bama's defense and the would have gotten the ball back at their own 40 at the worst, inside the other 40 with a nice return at best or some where in between. And please do not compare any other game wher some team might have moved on Bama. Bama was and wil be ready for LSU like no one else this year. Both defense's are great, but Bama will win if Saban's ego does not get in his way again (and that is always a major concern for them when his reputation is on the line ,much as he blamed the bama fans for the loss too Utah who was clearly the better team in the sugar bowl a few years back). Saban is a great COLLEGE football coach, but when he stumbles he never takes responsibility....

LSU's offense took possession of the ball in field goal range for their second and third field goals. The second field goal drive was 3 plays for -1 yard, and the third field goal was 4 plays for 17 yards.
I agree that Alabama's offense will have the same challenge. The biigest difference in the first game was that Alabama's offense was balanced. They had some success both running and passing, where LSU was rendered completely one-dimensional. That's why I have repeatedly said that LSU will have to be able to make some plays downfield in the passing game to keep Alabama's defense somewhat honest. If they can't, they won't win. It's as simple as that.
Because both defenses are so dominant, this game will go way UNDER the total again.

It doesn't matter how much sense peoples posts make, you just ignore them. Bama beat no one all year, that is not an opinion.
Alabama and LSU played virtually identical schedules. The big difference between the two is that LSU played Oregon as one of their non-conference games while Alabama played a lower-tier FBS school which is pretty standard for all the prominent programs.
LSU and Alabama played identical conference schedules except Alabama played Vandy while LSU played Kentucky. Vandy was the far better team as evidenced by the fact they beat Kentucky 38-8.
Alabama also played Florida on the road with their starting QB, while LSU played them at home versus a guy who had never taken a snap in college football. Thus, it is beyond any and all doubt that Alabama played the tougher conference schedule.
The out of conference schedules break down as follows:
Alabama played Penn State on the road while LSU played West Virginia on the road. Advantage Alabama
LSU played Western Kentucky while Alabama played Georgia Southern. Pretty Equal
LSU played Nothwestern State while Alabama played Kent State. Advantage Alabama
LSU played Oregon while Alabama played North Texas. Huge advantage LSU
So subtracting Oregon and North Texas from the schedules, Alabama clearly played the more difficult regular season schedule. Add those two teams back in and clearly LSU played the tougher regular season schedule, but it's not this huge disparity that so many of the Alabama-hating posters on Covers would like to make it out to be.
Alabama beat 6 bowl teams. Just because Alabama is far superior to those 6 doesn't mean they beat "no one."

That wasn't the first game they were out gained this year, but they still won.
How can a team that was rendered one dimensional beat Alabama? What makes you think they can't do it again? Aside from the fact that Saban make crucial coaching errors, what makes yu think that bama would have scored anymore had he punted and played field position?

Besides Obama only NCAA could come up with a more illogical national championship based on the best of TWO games
This is completely ignorant and I will personally be boycotting this game and most other bowl games, until the NCAA comes up with a reasonable method to determine a national championship or just quit naming a national champion. If all would boycott this idiotic system, maybe we could get some reasonable changes and this is from an Alabama fan.

as usual...not the extremes we hear..... "LSU's toughest EVER !!! Bama's weakest of any in BCS title game !! *real quick like....Texas in '09 had a weaker schedule than Bama '11
problems with any strength of schedule? 1) actual strength of team often not accurate *best to use Vegas ratings 2) not only what team you played crucial...but WHERE...and in WHAT ORDER...makes a big difference
LSU * eliminating 2 games...played an average...of the 30-35th ranked team each week...like Ohio St...W Vag...or Cal
basically.... very tough game on road (but with huge crowd edge) home scrimmage tough road game another tough road game (but vs overrated opponent) easy home game competitive home game competitive road game fairly easy home game super tough road game home scrimmage easy road game very tough home game * SEC title game
BAMA * dropping 2...played the 50-55th ranked team each week...like N Caro...Pitt...or Louisville > hardly a super easy run
home scrimmage tough road game very tough home game competitive road tough home easy road competitive home super tough home competitive road home scrimmage competitive road game
LSU's schedule tough no doubt...but not all that bad since no more than 2...tough ones in a row...(@Miss St > @ WVag)....followed by Kentucky... then Ark and Ga of course ...later Fla > @ Tenn > Auburn looks really tough but not so much in retrospect....
Bama's toughest run was Ark > @ Fla > Vandy at home later Tenn > LSU > @ Miss St > Auburn not bad *so this probably brings the schedules a little closer....tough to assess a numerical value... since the average LSU opponent was about 3 pts better than Bama's...maybe we could drop it to 2.0 - 2.5 maybe ?
It is better to be feared - than to be loved.

LSU v Bama schedule comparison....
as usual...not the extremes we hear.....
BAMA * dropping 2...played the 50-55th ranked team each week...like N Caro...Pitt...or Louisville > hardly a super easy run

i posted an incredible amount of data and argument to support my point
you reiterated what every know-nothing SEC-lover on the planet keeps saying, as your "rebuttal"
you needed to make a new ID to do it, because you are too much of a Nick Saban to post it on your real ID
i will stick my fucking neck out and put my football knowledge against ANYBODY (no exceptions!)... ANY TIME!... without having to hide like a Nick Saban behind some alias
but i'm the one who knows little about football...
but hey! maybe you'd care to elaborate, or demonstrate to us YOUR expansive knowledge of football... beyond the fact that "Oklahoma St lost to Iowa St"... and maybe this time without hiding behind an alias...
what say you?

Besides Obama only NCAA could come up with a more illogical national championship based on the best of TWO games
This is completely ignorant and I will personally be boycotting this game and most other bowl games, until the NCAA comes up with a reasonable method to determine a national championship or just quit naming a national champion. If all would boycott this idiotic system, maybe we could get some reasonable changes and this is from an Alabama fan.
