Alabama would have won had they not been out coached. Instead of trying 40 and 50 yead field goals, they should have been punting and pinning LSU deep as Miles did. Say what you want, but the difference in that came was the coaching decisions...

finally some people w/some sense here.  i have never said that LSU is a shitty team or anything like that... the title of this thread is probably a little misleading now that i think about it.  i am just saying that, based on what i saw last night, 'bama is a better team than LSU and would beat them at least 50% of the time, if not more, on a neutral field.  obviously, LSU was the better TEAM last night since they won, i'm just not convinced they are the overall better team.   too many fools here on covers that want to jump on ANYONE that thinks outside the box.  too many 15 year old  little stat geeks who have never played a day of sports in their lives, pretending to be tough guys and talking hella shit all of the time... fools don't know how badly they'd get stomped if they ever tried talking like that to some of us in real life.

Let's see, coaching and special teams are part of the game. LSU excelled in those areas last night so saying those things doesn't make sense. If Lee doesn't throw two picks then LSU wins by a bigger margin, etc. etc. Alabama's vaunted rushing game got beat by LSU's running game. I agree Saban contributed mightily to this loss by attempting FG's instead of punting. Now Alabama fans may see that he isn't this Godlike Immortal. He's cocky, superficial, and can be a real prick. I've never understood the love affair with this guy. The fact is these were two evenly matched teams but LSU won. Too bad that they won't get a rematch. Now maybe Miles will get some credit for being a good coach. Pulling Lee was a ballsy but brilliant move. Lee can't handle the pressure and would have given the game away. It was a great game but it's time for Bama to move on. Hopefully they will get a shot at playing Boise St. and run them into the ground.

UA had more yards than LSU...what is that suppose to mean to me? UA STILL LOST the game and was held OUT of the endzone and MISSED 4 FGs. Yet you believe you are the 2nd best team in the country

UA has beaten who this year again? Dont worry I'll wait

When did having the best defense automatically mean you belonged in the NC game? I missed that memo as well

    - If thats the case TCU belonged in the NC game last year when there defense was the second coming of the '61 Crimson Tide (22 points allowed in 10 games) *Im being sarcastic, but they were good though*

    - Alabama has faced offensively ranked out of 120 teams the 120th (Kent State), 88th (Penn State), 109 (Akron), 25th (Arkansas), 94th (Florida), 106 (Vanderbilt), 115 (Ole Miss), 102nd (Tennessee), 81st (LSU)

I can make the argument Alabama has played the WORST schedule based on offensive ranking in the country...but there defense is all world huh? Against who? They have played 4 of the bottom 15 WORST offensive teams in the COUNTRY! And people are screaming rematch for what? Who has Alabama beaten again?

Until you can name me who you have beaten worth their salt (hint hint Arkansas...whoopeee) There is an argument that I would rather see UA TRY to beat OU, Okie State, Stanford, or Oregon. You dont DESERVE even a mention to play in the NC game.

What happens when UA gets selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl against a 2 loss Oregon team or a 1 loss Okie State, OU team and loses....all we will hear is how bad your inexperienced QB is and how you have a young offense and so on and so forth. How about coming to grips with it NOW so the heartbreak in January wont cause you to lose money. Because UA will NOT be favored on a neutral field against any of the teams I have mentioned above. They havent played anyone with a dynamic offense and their offense is too 1 dimensional with an inexperienced QB at the helm. LSU on the other hand has done this and proven that they can win. Alabama..NOT SO MUCH

Yet you believe you are the 2nd best team in the country  - Ummm, yes very much so... We held them to the least amount of yards all season,  and had more opportunities to win against that team, than any other. Currently, we are still the ONLY team that will have a chance against them. You better pray for a rematch, because if not, you will see Bama and LSU slaughter whomever they play.

UA has beaten who this year again? Dont worry I'll wait   - Because of how close we just came to LSU, and how well we competed against them, and how close we came to winning that game, which is saying more than ANY team they have played this season, tells me that we just beat every team they played. Because all the others were DD wins, and blowouts.

When did having the best defense automatically mean you belonged in the NC game? I missed that memo as well - I never said it did? But the bottom line is, these are the two best defenses in the country, and these are the two most physical teams in the country. On the offensive and defensive fronts. No other teams can match up.

What's your point? And a lot of those teams lost their rankings after they played Alabama...

- They just competed with the number 1 team in the nation, and proved they are the second best. These "high powered offensive teams" like Stanford, and Ok st would get completely shut down. Their athletes simply don't match up with the ones in the SEC. They are bigger, they are fast, and they are FAR more physical.

Until you can name me who you have beaten worth their salt (hint hint Arkansas...whoopeee) There is an argument that I would rather see UA TRY to beat OU, Okie State, Stanford, or Oregon. You dont DESERVE even a mention to play in the NC game.

That is your opinion, and it is idiotic... Everyone in the nation, except you can see that these are the two best teams.

Well that's not gonna happen if OK st, and Stanford lose... We are ranked 3 in the polls right now, so IF they lose then we get the rematch. If they both win, we will play Stanford, which is also fine with me. Man, you are an idiot.

I love the term "dynamic offense"... and you couldn't be more wrong about that... If one of those games happened, Bama would be favored by 7, at least. Bama and LSU are the two most physical teams in the nation, and would embarrass any other teams they would play.

almost all big games come down to turnovers or special teams.  LSU had better special teams.  Ask Bobby Bowden how many times he had the "better" team against Miami.  He just didn't believe in "wasting" a scholarship on a FG kicker.  That is, until later in his career.

I think Saban put those kids in a tough position by not punting.  And, SHOCKINGLY, Miles outcoached Saban in the second half by making better adjustments.

Miles has improved as a coach over the years and I take my hat off to the guy, so to speak.

I picked the Tides and LSU was the better team.

The Tiger's are for real, and no there should not be a rematch.

LSU had the better overall team and Saban was out coached.

DID You really just say because you WERE CLOSE to beating LSU! So being "close" is good enough to play for the national champonship

And this means what again? Stop taking credit for LSU's wins this seasons as your own. This is what it is becoming, because LSU is the best and they went on to beat such and such and we (Alabama) gave them their closest game we are just as good...Alabama has beaten NO ONE and have shown us NOTHING...NEXT!

    - Alabama has faced offensively ranked out of 120 teams the 120th (Kent State), 88th (Penn State), 109 (Akron), 25th (Arkansas), 94th (Florida), 106 (Vanderbilt), 115 (Ole Miss), 102nd (Tennessee), 81st (LSU)  - And they have SHUT down every single team they have played... My point outside of Arkansas and LSU, you have played against DISMAL offenses. 2 of the teams you've beaten are in the bottom 5 in the country. Next year schedule a team worth their name. I see that ALabama opens up with Michigan, a nice safe win...why did Alabama backout in the 12th hour against Boise STate last year but were quick to schedule Michigan next year on a whelm.

Again here you go with the assessment that because you matched up well with the #1 team in the country you should be #2. What are you 12 years old? It doesnt work like that...matchups are matchups and any given "Sunday" or in this case "Saturday" anyone can be beaten. You lost at HOME as a 5 point favorite! Stop the bullshit. You were favored for a reason yet lost. If this game were in Baton Rouge maybe you have an argument but you have NONE here

Until you can name me who you have beaten worth their salt (hint hint Arkansas...whoopeee) There is an argument that I would rather see UA TRY to beat OU, Okie State, Stanford, or Oregon. You dont DESERVE even a mention to play in the NC game.

Would you like to make a wager that Alabama will not get a rematch against LSU. Im not about this talking crap. I see that you are a SEC sympathizer as well as an UA homer. We can make this wager up to 1K or as little as $200. You let me know what you want to do and we can make it happen. We can also make this a loser never posts on Covers again (under our current user's name if you want) type deal. Im getting tired of going back and forth with simple minded human beings. Put up the money or shut up...the ball is in your court.

What's your point? And a lot of those teams lost their rankings after they played Alabama...

- I don't care who we haven't played... We have dominated everyone we have played, and will do the same all season. The fact of the matter is, is that no team other than LSU is as physical up front as Bama, can compete with that secondary, and can out physical those LB's.

- They just competed with the number 1 team in the nation, and proved they are the second best. These "high powered offensive teams" like Stanford, and Ok st would get completely shut down. Their athletes simply don't match up with the ones in the SEC. They are bigger, they are fast, and they are FAR more physical.

If this game were in Baton Rouge maybe you have an argument but you have NONE here - Actually, I do... There is a reason that they are ranked #1, and a reason that we were, and will be the only team that can compete with them. We showed that to the world... The rest of the college football world is MILES behind these two teams, and that is obvious to everyone except you, which makes me laugh!

Until you can name me who you have beaten worth their salt (hint hint Arkansas...whoopeee) There is an argument that I would rather see UA TRY to beat OU, Okie State, Stanford, or Oregon. You dont DESERVE even a mention to play in the NC game.

UA had more yards than LSU...what is that suppose to mean to me? UA STILL LOST the game and was held OUT of the endzone and MISSED 4 FGs.

Alabama DID NOT WIN THE GAME AT HOME...SHUT THIS SHIT UP ALREADY! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THEY CAN WIN ON A NEUTRAL FIELD - Did I say win? No, I said compete.

DID You really just say because you WERE CLOSE to beating LSU! So being "close" is good enough to play for the national champonship - It's better than any other team has or will accomplish... So yeah!

When did having the best defense automatically mean you belonged in the NC game? I missed that memo as well - I never said it did? But the bottom line is, these are the two best defenses in the country, and these are the two most physical teams in the country. On the offensive and defensive fronts. No other teams can match up.
- They have shown that they are the second best team in the nation, BY FAR! If Ok. St. and Stanford both lose then Boise St. will play LSU(if they win out) in the NC. I would actually like to see that. No way will a rematch happen. That woud just add so much fuel to the fire and there would be all kind of arguements. I just can't see it happening. I think they would finally give Boise St. a chance.

Alabama is so many points ahead of Boise right now... Boise's sos, vs Bama's sos, I doubt will be enough to move them ahead... Unless their conference championship does, seeing as how Bama won't have one. In that case it would be Bama vs Stanford I think, WHICH I WOULD LOVE TO SEE!

No your the idiot for not already thinking this through...IF there is no more undefeated teams do you want this wager? I have already stated COUNTLESS times in various threads the SEC coaches themselves 5 years ago make it loud and clear why there should be NO rematches in the title game regardless if it is the 2 best teams. There is NO WAY a 1 loss Alabama plays over a 1 loss OU, Stanford, or Oregon considering they win THEIR CONFERENCE. There are direct quotes from Miles, Tuberville, and Meyer themselves on this subject that WILL be brought back up by Big 12/Pac 12 pundits if needed to contradict any sendiments for a UA/UF rematch

Again do you want to wager on the above? Have I made this clear to you? $200 up to 1K? If not shut the fuck up on this subject already. This is a gambling forum not a fan forum. So lets makes this wager or shut up on this topic already...ball is your court
