Bankroll $109,500
Futures tourney winners on Nova and Nevada hit. Purdue we got screwed on. They drew toughest team in tourney first round and still shoulda won up 3 under 30 secs. Final 2 min they missed the front end of a 1 and 1 twice and blew a wide open fast break lay up. They hold onto that game I strongly feel they beat Minny as well and handle Wiscy who was awful today. Pretty unlucky.

84. Cal ML -260 13k to win 5k
I don't usually make stand alone plays like this. I didn't look at the games early. I would have probably parlayed them with the Cavs who were great value tonight vs a detroit team they totally own at home. But the fact is Cal is not this bad. The team they're playing is on par with New Mexico State who loses in the tourney by like 20 every year. In Cal? Come on. Cal has way more talent than this team. I feel like they should win by 15 honestly.

Just to clarify, I have Oregon listed at -7 in one thread and -7.5 in another. Doesn't matter because ties lose in 8 point teasers anyway so in effect it's the same bet. Also, double listed 78 so I'll repost that one here.

Totally messed up the bet numbers. They should be 87, 88, and 89. My bad. I don't know why I make that mistake so often.
About this past weekend's games. Just a few notes. Coming into this year, I knew the field was weak. One of the weakest ever. And I thought it would show in the Sweet 16 with a bunch of coinflip matchups and close games. I did not, however, think it would show up in the second round.
I honestly think the quality of play in CB today is pretty embarrassing. NC nearly losing to Arkansas was a stunner to me. I mean Arkansas is not any good. Improved from last year? Sure. They're not horrible. But they play no defense. Just stay disciplined on defense and rebound and you should handle them. Arkansas should have won though.
St. Mary's was neck and neck with Arizona which surprised me. St. Mary's is a decent team, but they're offensively challenged they shouldn't be beating a 2 seed in the tourney. You had SC beating Duke. I mean SC? Look at what they've done this year. They are a trash team. Not very good on offense, and defensively overrated in my opinion because they play a lot of crap teams in their conference. You had Rhode Island nearly beating Oregon. I don't care what people say. Look at some of the terrible losses they had in the A 10 conference which has proven to be very weak. That should be an easy game for Oregon. And Wiscy beating Nova? Guys, it's the same team as last year. And let me tell ya - last year's team gets hammered by the top 5-6 teams in that tourney and so would this one.
Another game that was surprisingly close was Baylor USC. USC is better than last year. But they play no defense. You should beat them by double digits. At the very least, you should have game control and be up at least 89 with a few min left. And btw the Kansas game was actually a 5 point game with a few min left.
What I'm saying it the teams just are terrible this year. And that's a first. I can't remember having a field where none of the 1 or 2 seeds can reliably beat the crap out of a 7 or 8 in the second round. Never. These same trash teams that gave the higher seeds fits this year would have been smashed in other past years.
I know some of you will say well couldn't the field be deeper and that's why it's more competitive? I really don't think so. Look at the in season results of teams like USC, Rhode Island, Arkansas, and Wisconsin (really a poor regular season no good road wins), and South Carolina and you will see tons of ugly losses. Every one of those teams has been fugly on the road. And surprisingly most of those teams have bad blowout losses at home. Like Arkansas for instance, got hammered on their home floor by Vandy. Rhode Island lost at home by 10 to Fordham! And 12 at home to LaSalle. USC was the last team in. Wiscy was supposed to be like a 4 seed but lost like 5 of 6 including home losses to Northwestern and Iowa - I mean my god. And USC you can see lost by 20 on the road to every decent team they played. Just realized I forgot about Xavier. Xavier also the second or last team in. Wins by 20. I've seen them play. They are a third of the team they were last year.
So no, the lower seeds aren't much better. The top seeds are just much, much worse. In my opinion, the worst in the last 15 years. And the thing is while there were signs of this during the regular season, it was hard to see how bad it actually was because you had a bunch of mediocre teams all playing each other and no elite teams to compare anyone to. If you don't have one great team to stand out, you don't know for sure if maybe you just have a bunch of pretty good teams or if everyone is actually worse. And the second round verified the latter. So that can be the tricky part about betting sports. You can not discover who a team is until the season is over. I mean look at Duke. Just a comical season. Great wins, and terrible losses.
