With only four games remaining in the regular season, the West Division playoff race is about to get a whole lot more interesting as the Calgary Stampeders head to Regina to take on the defending champion Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Although Saskatchewan is mired in a slump, CFL odds still have the Roughriders listed as 5.5-point home favorites on Friday, Oct. 2.
However, my Stampeders vs. Roughriders predictions and CFL picks expect Vernon Adams Jr. and the Stampeders to keep this one closer than the oddsmakers suggest.
Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET from Mosaic Stadium, with the game airing on TSN.
Who will win Stampeders vs Roughriders: Stampeders +5.5 (-115)
Not only have the Saskatchewan Roughriders dropped four of their last six games, but the Riders' offence has really hit a skid in the process, failing to reach 20 points in three of those contests.
Trevor Harris has been shaky down the stretch, with the 40-year-old quarterback showing signs of slowing down. He owns just a 91.2 passer rating and a 6-4 TD-INT ratio over that stretch, and even missed the first day of practice this week due to illness.
On the other side, Vernon Adams Jr. and the Calgary Stampeders lead the league in points per game (35.7), with Calgary coming off two straight wins while scoring 40+ in each.
The Stamps also took this same Saskatchewan team down to the wire earlier this season, with the Riders escaping by just three points in overtime. Saskatchewan went a perfect 4-for-4 in the red zone that night, while Calgary settled for field goals in three of its six RZ trips.
At +5.5, I'm comfortable playing Calgary down to +3.5.

Stampeders vs Roughriders total prediction: Over 62.5 (-108)
This game is set to be a track meet. Calgary is 12-3 to the O/U this season, while Saskatchewan's defence has taken a step back following plenty of offseason turnover.
Adams is playing the best football of his career, boasting a career-best 113.8 passer rating. Riders All-Star corner Tevaughn Campbell is also questionable, giving the Stamps a similar opportunity through the air to what B.C. exploited last week, when Nathan Rourke and the Leos racked up 439 yards of net offence.
Meanwhile, the Stamps' D is still surrendering 34.0 ppg while allowing 6.0 yards per rush, the latter being the worst mark in the league. That will help Saskatchewan running back AJ Ouellette get going and give the Riders' offence some traction to help push this total Over.
Playable to 64.5.
Stampeders vs Roughriders same-game parlay
Calgary actually sports a better road record this season (4-3 SU) than at McMahon Stadium, where the Stampeders have dropped five of eight home matchups.
The Riders were just 1.5-point favorites in the last meeting between these teams, and while I don't expect them to combine for 77 points this time around, my projection has the total closer to the mid-60s.
