The BC Lions blew a 14-point lead in their season opener and will be itching to make things right in front of their home fans when they play host to the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.
Despite Calgary coming off an impressive win over Hamilton, my Stampeders vs. Lions predictions expect BC to prevail in convincing fashion. Find out why in my CFL picks for June 15.

My analysis
The BC Lions played as sloppy a game as you could muster up in Week 1. The team turned the ball over five times, and the offensive line was the biggest concern, giving up six sacks and forcing the Leos to abandon the run game for the majority of the second half.
Luckily for the Leos, all signs point towards BC bouncing back in a big way in their home opener against the Calgary Stampeders. Not only has the Leos organization pulled 50 Cent as a pre-game concert and driven ticket sales to the point of BC Place being nearly sold out, but the matchup against the Stamps is a favorable one for the home team.
Calgary is just 1-4 ATS in its last five matchups against BC, including last year's West-Semi Final when quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. shredded the Stampeders to the tune of 431 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air.
Although the Stamps are feeling good off of the backs of a 32-24 win over Hamilton in their Week 1 opener, the defense remains largely unchanged sans the addition of DB Demerio Houston. It's a stop-unit that gave up an average of 26.7 points per game in 2023 and allowed 459 yards of net offence to Hamilton last week.
Meanwhile, QB Jake Maier also struggled against BC last year, sporting a 73.0 passer rating and 53.4% completion percentage in three regular starts against the Lions. The Stamps starter also turned the ball over far too many times in 2023, finishing with a shaky 19-15 TD/INT ratio.
Including playoffs, BC is 6-2 straight up against Calgary in its last eight showdowns, with the Leos boasting a winning margin of 10+ points in four of those contests. The Lions are also 8-2 against the spread following an outright loss, so I expect Adams & Co. to bounce back in front of 50,000+ on Saturday.
Stampeders vs Lions same-game parlay (SGP)
BC should feed off of the atmosphere of the home fans and grab an early lead, which sets us up for a run-heavy game script.
After giving William Stanback just 11 carries last week, I expect BC to unleash its star running back against Calgary. Ticats' RB James Butler torched the Stamps on the ground in Week 1, rushing 13 times for 119 yards (9.2 avg).
Meanwhile, Alexander Hollins was targeted a team-high 13 times in the Leos Week 1 loss and finished second in the CFL in receiving TDs last season (9). Expect BC's No. 1 WR to remain Adams' go-to target in the red zone.
