The Calgary Stampeders will visit their provincial rival Edmonton Elks on Saturday, just five days after the Elks secured a 38-28 win in Calgary. My Stampeders vs. Elks prediction suggests that fans should be in for another high-scoring thriller.

As the regular season nears its end and playoffs rapidly approach, there's no shortage of valuable CFL picks and CFL odds for Saturday, Sept. 12. Kickoff at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta will be at 7 p.m. ET on TSN.

Who will win Stampeders vs Elks: Edmonton Elks (-166)

Edmonton sits first in the West Division at 9-3, while Calgary finds itself in the basement with a 5-7 record.

The Elks enter this game as winners of three straight and six of their last eight. Conversely, Calgary has lost three of their last four and haven't scored more than 30 points in over a month.

The Stampeders have allowed the second-most points and rushing yards of any team, exposed last week by Edmonton's elite rushing offense. QB Cody Fajardo made up for a subpar passing game with four scrambles of 10+ yards, while Justin Rankin continues to pile up scores and long runs.

Edmonton is the favorite for good reason, and it should once again take advantage of a poor Calgary rushing defense.

Playable to around -180.

Stampeders vs Elks total prediction: Over 61.5 (-112)

This is quite a high line, even for CFL standards, but this is exactly the matchup to smash it.

These teams combined for 66 points just five days ago despite Cody Fajardo struggling through the air. Calgary has scored the most points in the league while allowing the second-most. They've played to the Over in seven of their last 10.

Meanwhile, Edmonton has topped 30 points in three of its last four games. The Elks may allow the fewest points, second-fewest passing yards, and third-fewest rushing yards, but that certainly didn't stop their last game from smashing the Over.

It's a lofty line, but one playable to around -125.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Stampeders have played to the Over in 9/12 games this season.

Stampeders vs Elks same-game parlay

Given this lopsided matchup between these Albertan teams, I'm more than comfortable backing the Elks to win by at least a few.

Calgary put together a solid offensive showing against a strong defensive team on Tuesday, while imploding on the other side of the ball in typical Stampeders fashion. While the Elks' defensive prowess can't be understated, they fared much better by exposing Calgary's secondary and embracing this matchup as a shootout.
