The BC Lions face off against the Montreal Alouettes in Week 5 action on Saturday.

The Als are coming off their first loss of the year, and my Lions vs. Alouettes predictions expect them to bounce back at home.

Here are my best free CFL picks for July 5.

Lions vs Alouettes prediction

My Lions vs Alouettes pick: Alouettes -2.5 (-110 at BET99)

The Montreal Alouettes are coming off their first defeat of the year after losing 35-17 in Hamilton last week.

Montreal's offense struggled without quarterback Davis Alexander, mustering just 226 net yards and 4.1 yards per play.

Alexander has been ruled out for the second straight game, while wideout Austin Mack and All-Star right tackle Nick Callender are also sidelined.

Defensively, they will also be missing a key player in Lorenzo Burns, who is the highest-graded defensive back in the league per PFF.

Meanwhile, the BC Lions announced that QB Nathan Rourke will be available after missing the last two weeks with an oblique injury.

The QB news for both sides has moved the line from Montreal -5.5 to -2.5, which I think is an over-correction.

McLeod Bethel-Thompson is coming off an ugly performance against Hamilton, but he's a veteran passer and is usually more efficient than he was last week.

BC's defense is also vulnerable and has surrendered 32.7 ppg over the last three games.

Although Rourke is a stud, he's protected by a below-average line that will face a stout Montreal front four.

The Als have allowed the fewest yards per game (308.0) and yards per play (5.73) in the CFL, and they also lead the league in turnovers forced (12) while ranking second in sacks (11).

With Montreal going 11-4 SU and 9-4-2 ATS in its last 15 games at home, back its stingy defense to lead to a win and cover.

Lions vs Alouettes same-game parlay (SGP)

Alouettes -2.5

Over 49.5

Montreal's offense is at a buy-low spot due to last week's performance from Bethel-Thompson, where the veteran gunslinger was picked off three times.

Expect a bounce-back performance from him against a leaky Lions D.

That said, I'm also expecting a more explosive Leos attack with Rourke back under center. He should do enough to push this game Over the total.
