Fresh off a bye, the 8-3 Edmonton Elks sit atop the West Division and will look to continue their ascent in the Grey Cup odds when they face the Calgary Stampeders as slight road favorites.

My Elks vs. Stampeders predictions lean on Edmonton’s ground game and Calgary’s lack of an answer for it, setting up my CFL picks for Monday, Sept. 7.

Who will win Elks vs Stampeders: Elks moneyline (+105)

With wet conditions expected in Cowtown on Labour Day, expect a ground-heavy affair, and the Edmonton Elks match up well for those elements.

Justin Rankin leads all running backs with eight carries of 20+ yards and will have his eyes on chewing up a Calgary Stampeders run defence that is surrendering a league-worst 5.9 yards per carry.

Calgary's offence ranks dead last in 2-and-out percentage (35%). With quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. also potentially rusty after missing last week due to a concussion, expect some headwinds for the Stamps' passing attack in this one — and plenty of audible groans from the Stamps faithful.

Edmonton is 8-3 ATS on the season, while Calgary is just 2-4 SU at home in 2026. I'm playing them on the moneyline to +100.

Elks vs Stampeders total prediction: Under 59.5 (-110)

Edmonton’s defence has seen an incredible year-over-year improvement, ranking first in points allowed per game (25.4) after sitting dead last in that category in 2025.

Meanwhile, Calgary has failed to exceed 30 points since Week 7 and boasts just a collective 64.5% completion rate between Adams and backup Josh Love, worst in the league.

Playable to 57.5.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Justin Rankin is tied for first in the CFL in “big plays", with eight runs of 20+ yards and four receptions of 30+.

Elks vs Stampeders same-game parlay

The Under has cashed in four straight showdowns between the Elks and Stamps, and the highest closing total in the last 10 matchups has been 52.5.

Bank on Edmonton’s ground game and improved defence to control the pace.
