Kiki Iriafen and the Washington Mystics welcome an exhausted Toronto Tempo team to the nation's capital. Jason Logan's WNBA predictions like Iriafen to attack Toronto's terrible interior defense.

The Washington Mystics are well-rested and ready for the struggling and exhausted Toronto Tempo tonight.

Washington has been enjoying an extended break while last playing on Aug. 15. Meanwhile, Toronto has lost 11 straight games and travels to D.C. on zero rest after a high-profile home date with the Indiana Fever last night.

Toronto continues to struggle to protect the paint after allowing 50 PITP to Indiana. That makes Washington forward Kiki Iriafen a problem and the focus of my Tempo vs. Mystics predictions.

My WNBA picks like Iriafen to irritate Toronto's defense on Aug. 19.

Tempo vs Mystics prediction

Tempo vs Mystics best bet: Kiki Iriafen Over 15.5 points (-120)

The Toronto Tempo's lack of size and energy will compound their defensive issues.

They’re down multiple frontcourt bodies and can’t seem to stop opponents from doing damage inside. Toronto is giving up 42.4 PITP during its losing skid and couldn’t keep Indiana out of the key last night.

Washington Mystics forward Kiki Iriafen ranks 10th overall in PITP, and the versatile 6-foot-3 forward presents a horrific matchup for the Tempo. Her attacking drives are too quick for bigs and too strong for smaller guards.

She scored 18 of her 25 points in the paint in her last meeting with Toronto.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Twelve of Iriafen’s 14 field-goal attempts came within two feet of the basket during that July 14 matchup with Toronto. The Tempo allow a league-high 25.9 FGAs inside the restricted area (four feet from the hoop).

Tempo vs Mystics same-game parlay

The Mystics keep winning and are the best home bet in the WNBA at 12-6 ATS. This is a sizable spread due to Toronto’s troubles, and it’s been a long time since Washington was laying this much lumber.

Washington has been enjoying a pause in game action and a rare window to practice and tighten the bolts. Meanwhile, the Tempo are in a schedule blender and facing a nasty letdown spot after an intense game with Indiana 24 hours ago. Sprinkle in a laundry list of ailments for Toronto, and I’m not afraid of all those points.

Tempo vs Mystics trend

We have the best home bet in the WNBA facing the league’s best road bet, with Toronto boasting an 11-5 ATS clip as a visitor. However, this is the Tempo’s first game on zero rest with travel between tipoffs, and they’re 4-11 ATS with a rest disadvantage, according to Team Rankings. Find more WNBA betting trends.
