The WNBA Commissioner’s Cup continues today with a three-game slate, beginning with a matinee matchup between the Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun.
Sky guard Ariel Atkins is in a long-range shooting slump, but my Sky vs. Sun predictions expect Atkins to break out today against a porous Connecticut defense.
Sky vs Sun predictions
My Sky vs Sun best bet: Ariel Atkins Over 1.5 threes (+108 at FanDuel)
Chicago Sky guard Ariel Atkins has faced superior defenses in her previous three games, resulting in a 1-for-10 slump from beyond the arc.
It was difficult for Atkins to get open looks from beyond the arc against the solid perimeter defenses of the Dream, Liberty, and Fever. Those squads locked Atkins down big time, but she has a much better matchup to knock down at least two triples against the Connecticut Sun.
Atkins is a career 36% shooter mired in a miserable slump. She’s making 35% of her four long-range attempts and meets the softest perimeter defense she’s faced in a month.
The Sky guard should get anywhere from 28-31 minutes, and she should knock down 2+ triples against a Sun defense allowing 38% of opponents' 24 long-range attempts to fall through the twine.
Sky vs Sun same-game parlay (SGP)
I’ll add Kamilla Cardoso snagging 6+ rebounds for the fifth time in seven games as the Sun allow 35 rebounds per clash.
Meanwhile, the game total is too low. Chicago has surrendered 85+ points in seven of its nine games. Connecticut has allowed 100+ points in three of their previous five.
The Over is 6-4 across their last 10, and today’s clash should follow that trend.
