Marina Mabrey Under 22.5 points (-110)

Kelsey Plum is one of the truest joys in the WNBA. When her offense is humming, few things are more delightful. But, it is only honest to acknowledge, the Los Angeles Sparks’ defense is measurably worse with their star point guard on the court.

Their defensive rating is 6.7 points better in four games without Plum than in 12 games with her. (The Sparks’ offensive rating is 11.7 points better in 12 games with Plum than in four games without her.)

That shift is plenty enough reason to doubt volume scorers against Los Angeles for a week or two while Plum is out at least four weeks.

Marina Mabrey has been excellent for the Toronto Tempo this season, and she has cleared this prop in each of her last two games, but it is also a surprisingly high number, one likely based on the Sparks’ usual defensive struggles. If those improve without Plum, it should come at Mabrey’s expense.

Chelsea Gray Over 7.5 assists (+116)

Chelsea Gray is spending this season doing what she does best: setting up her teammates. The Las Vegas Aces point guard has cleared this prop in four straight games, forcing oddsmakers to move it up to a plus-money Over at 7.5 rather than a heavily-juiced Over at 6.5.

Let’s enjoy the plus-money, given Gray has dished out at least eight assists in seven of her last 11 games, including nine in a 30-point loss to the Dallas Wings a couple weeks ago.

If there has ever been a moment to think Las Vegas might be out for blood, it is in response to that rout of a loss, and that blood should be best found via Gray’s playmaking.

Sabrina Ionescu Under 2.5 3-pointers (-178)

This is more juice than is usually comfortable. It is pushing up against what the publishing desk will even allow. And understandably so from their role.

But this is a full 3-pointer too high. Sabrina Ionescu’s back issues did not entirely go away in 30 minutes against the Aces on Tuesday. And she still struggled to 2-of-6 from deep and 5-of-12 from the field.

The Seattle Storm have the second-worst offensive rating in the WNBA; their defensive rating is middling enough.

With the New York Liberty favored by double digits, every piece of logic expects Ionescu to get some decent playing time in a pseudo-homecoming for her but with little stress or shooting in an effort to continue her back recovery.

He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
