Former MVP center Jonquel Jones tangles with budding superstar Dominique Malonga when the Liberty visit the Storm tonight. Jason Logan has WNBA prop picks for both bigs.

The past and future collide under the rim when the New York Liberty visit the Seattle Storm.

New York veteran center and former MVP Jonquel Jones goes toe-to-toe with Seattle’s second-year sensation Dominique Malonga, with the Liberty listed as 11.5-point favorites in the Emerald City tonight.

Jones continues to be the inside anchor for New York’s offense and our Liberty vs. Storm predictions give the edge to experience in this outing, especially with Seattle unable to keep foes from the offensive glass.

My WNBA picks are jumping on Jones to go Over her points prop on June 25.

Liberty vs Storm prediction

Liberty vs Storm best bet: Jonquel Jones Over 13.5 points (-120)

Jonquel Jones is the one constant during an up-and-down start for the New York Liberty.

She’s a double-double threat every night and will flip rebounds into easy offense against the Seattle Storm.

Seattle is struggling to clean the glass, allowing the second most offensive boards which have translated into an average 12.6 second-chance points against

Jones tops the Liberty in SCP (2.5) and has a rare inside-out game for a center, which will draw Dominique Malonga away from the rim. She’s upped her 3-point production recently, shooting a collective 19-for-41 from distance in June (46.3%).

My projections have Jones at 15.2 points, which should have Over 13.5 asking -140ish.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Jones could have a higher ceiling if Satou Sabally sits out (questionable). Sabally is second on the team in usage ahead of Jones but left last game with a head injury and has a history of concussion issues.

Liberty vs Storm same-game parlay

At first glance, this big spread seems fitting considering we have a top-versus-bottom battle in Seattle. But the Storm are playing better than their 3-15 record would lead bettors to believe.

They’ve come close to snapping their current 11-game skid and it shows in a 5-3 ATS mark over the last eight games.

New York wasn’t playing well before upsetting Las Vegas but is ripe for a letdown spot in a tight turnaround facing a weaker foe on the road. I’ll grab the points with the home team.

Liberty vs Storm SGP

  • Storm +11.5
  • Jonquel Jones Over 13.5 points
  • Dominique Malonga Over 1.5 assists

Liberty vs Storm player prop pick

Dominique Malonga Over 1.5 assists (-115)

Storm center Dominique Malonga lugs the scoring load for Seattle, erupting for 28 and 37 points in two of her last three games. That means she’s the focus of the Liberty defense tonight.

New York had success on defense in the win over Las Vegas Tuesday, utilizing its long 2-3 zone scheme to defend the interior and gave up just 32 points in the paint while holding Vegas to 43% shooting.

That inside pressure clamped down on Aces star center A’ja Wilson, forcing her to kick out to the perimeter and prompted five assists – her second highest assist count of the season.

Expect a similar squeeze on the 6-foot-6 Malonga tonight, forcing her to get rid of the ball and upping her potential assists.

Before adding only one assist in her big scoring night versus Dallas, the second-year center had two or more dimes in four straight games. New York’s zone actually prompts 4.2 assist per game from rival centers (fourth most for the position).
