Fever vs Dream Predictions, Picks, Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Don't look now but the Indiana Fever are getting hot. Led by Caitlin Clark, the Fever have won three straight games and now enter tonight's contest vs. a struggling Dream side dealing with some key injuries. Will it be another nightmare tonight for Atlanta?

The Atlanta Dream was already having difficulties before Olympian Rhyne Howard suffered an ankle sprain Wednesday.

Howard will miss tonight’s matchup with the Indiana Fever, and my WNBA picks and Fever vs Dream predictions expect Indiana guard Caitlin Clark to use Howard’s absence to her advantage when the Fever meets the Dream on Friday, June 21.

Fever vs Dream predictions

My best bet
Indiana -2.5 (-105 at BetMGM)

My analysis

The Indiana Fever are riding a three-game winning streak and appear to be figuring things out. They meet an Atlanta Dream group trending in the opposite direction and missing their leading scorer, Rhyne Howard.

Figuring things out for the Fever meant learning to adjust to a player with spectacular passing skills who also routinely shoots 30-footers. Indiana players needed to adjust for Caitlin Clark’s lack of defensive skills and those adjustments needed time to implement.

The opening month of the season was a rat race for Indiana, but they had a few days off recently and positive results have followed; the Fever have won four of their last five and look good to continue their winning ways tonight against the Dream.

Atlanta leads with their defense, and Howard is their best perimeter defender. The Dream rank fourth in three-point defense and points allowed that will take a hit tonight without Howard on the floor against a Fever offense outscoring its 79 ppg average in four of their last five.

This will allow Indiana to outscore a mediocre Atlanta offense. The Dream has scored 55 or fewer points twice this season and 55 points with Howard missing most of the second half in their loss to the Minnesota Lynx.

Despite the three-game winning streak, Indiana boasts the worst defense in the W, and Clark is one of the worst individual defenders, their offense is playing with swagger, and they can outscore Atlanta.

Fever forward Aliyah Boston is showing the form that won her the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year and NaLyssa Smith and Kelsey Mitchell are getting buckets and defensive stops. The Atlanta bench wasn’t deep before the Howard injury and they won’t help much on either end of the floor, which should allow Indiana to win and cover the number.

Caitlin Clark odds, prop for tonight

My best bet
Over 17.5 points (-105 at Caesars)

My analysis

Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the polarizing figure whose amazing college career has helped put more eyes and more fans in the seats than the WNBA has ever seen.

The NCAA all-time leading scorer hasn’t found the same scoring success as she did at Iowa, but the Dream is missing its best perimeter defender and that could open the door for Clark to score big.

Through 16 games, Clark is shooting 39% from the floor and 32% from downtown. She gets to the line roughly 4.4 times per game and makes 91% of those attempts. Clark has scored 30 points (twice) and as few as three points, but I expect the Iowa grad to look for her shot tonight with Dream center Tina Charles and forward Cheyenne Parker-Tyus causing trouble inside for Boston and Smith.

Clark has cleared 17.5 or more in half of Indiana’s 16 games and is draining 33% of her attempts from downtown in four of her last five. Clark should get a few more looks from behind the arc without Howard, and that should fuel her big night.

Fever vs Dream same-game parlay (SGP)

Fever -2.5

Caitlin Clark Over 17.5 points

Aliyah Boston Under 16.5 points

We’ve already gone over why I like the Fever to cover and why Clark should clear 17.5 points, but I also expect Fever forward Aliyah Boston to go Under her scoring prop.

Boston has cleared her scoring number in three of her last five. Boston scores the bulk of her points in the paint and that’s where the Dream defense excels; Atlanta allows the third-fewest points in the paint per night (34) and Boston will have difficulties scoring 17+ at Atlanta.
