Age is all about how you feel, but in combat sports, it's more about how you look. Edson Barboza has been declining for some time and is showing the effects of a long, bruising career.

He may still be the more technical striker, but his diminished movement and reflexes are major liabilities against the younger, more explosive Esteban Ribovics, who should close the distance, push the pace, and hand the veteran his fourth straight loss.

Edson Barboza vs Esteban Ribovics best bet: Ribovics by KO/TKO (-170)

Barboza’s durability and movement have significantly decreased to the point where he is comprehensively losing fights with no silver lining.

While Ribovics’ offense is based on his athleticism, Barboza will be at a disadvantage whether this is a stand-up fight or one that gets to the mat.

There isn’t anything left for Barboza besides a last stand, and Ribovics should bring enough pressure to force a stoppage.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Ribovics lands 7.27 significant strikes per minute, while Barboza absorbs 4.68 and has been knocked out in two of his last five losses.

Edson Barboza vs Esteban Ribovics prop pick: Ribovics to win in Round 1 (+190)

Jalin Turner used his physicality and pressure to overwhelm Barboza, and while Ribovics doesn't possess Turner's size and reach, he can attack many of the same vulnerabilities with activity and explosiveness.

Barboza has become increasingly slow to establish his offense during his losing streak. If Ribovics starts at his usual pace, I don't see Barboza surviving two rounds.

Odds as of 8-15.

Ribovics is a massive -700 favorite, and the method-of-victory market strongly favors a stoppage, with his KO/TKO prop priced at -170.

While Over 1.5 rounds is slightly favored, Barboza has been stopped twice during his current three-fight skid.

Edson Barboza vs Esteban Ribovics tale of the tape

Edson Barboza   Esteban Ribovics

Lightweight Weight Class Lightweight
75 inches Reach 69 inches
24-14 Record 15-3
14 Wins by KO 7
1 Wins by submission 5

Barboza owns a six-inch reach advantage and remains the more technically accomplished striker, but at 40, his physical advantages don't carry the same weight they once did.

Ribovics is 10 years younger and fights at a much higher pace, which should test Barboza's declining movement and durability.
