Ateba Gautier has been in the UFC for only a year and a half, but he’s already put together five wins, including four knockout finishes.

Roman Kopylov will be Gautier’s toughest test yet, but “The Storm” will still possess a significant edge in speed and power. We also know that Gautier has the gas tank to go 15 minutes, so I’m not worried about Kopylov taking over late.

This may not be another first-round KO for Gautier, but he should get the job done.

Ateba Gautier vs Roman Kopylov top pick: Gautier to win (68% Probability)

Everyone loves a knockout, and Gautier is a certified KO machine with nine finishes in 12 professional fights, but he has never faced a striker of Kopylov’s level.

Kopylov was a pro kickboxer before moving to the UFC, and while his record in the promotion isn't great (7-5), he's never been knocked out in his MMA career.

I think Gautier outlands Kopylov and earns a decisive win, but I could see this one going to the scorecards.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Gautier owns a significant strike differential of 1.72 per minute, while Kopylov’s rate is -0.54.

Kopylov has heard the final bell in three straight fights and four of his last five. While he hasn’t won a ton in the UFC, the crafty kickboxer will be the most difficult opponent of Gautier’s career.

Kopylov took both Paulo Costa and Gregory Rodrigues to a decision last year – two men who have finished most of their wins via knockout.

Gautier doesn’t possess the same level of experience as Costa or Rodrigues, so a knockout likely won’t be easy to come by.

Gautier is a confident pick, but I’m less confident he can knock out Kopylov, who has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best in the middleweight division.

The payout on a Gautier decision is also massive, which makes the play all the more enticing.
