This past weekend, Florida A&M allowed 479 total yards to South Carolina State. They were gashed repeatedly on the ground and through the air by an opponent that plays in the MEAC.
Miami's offense will have a chance to score on each of its offensive possessions on Thursday. In Week 1, the Hurricanes had 42 points with over 20 minutes remaining in the game before taking their foot off the proverbial gas pedal late in the contest. Still, they managed 27 first downs and 549 total yards on the road against a Stanford defense that many pundits thought could take a step forward in 2026.

Miami was unstoppable against Stanford in their season opener, with Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney routinely connecting for big gains in the middle of the field. Mensah finished with 401 passing yards and 5 touchdowns. He only had 3 incompletions on 30 pass attempts. Toney was unguardable, getting open with ease against man-heavy looks from Stanford's defense.
The Hurricanes' offense looks like one of the best in the country. Mensah and Toney are both bona fide Heisman candidates who are likely to pad their stats in Miami's home opener against an inferior opponent. This game could get ugly.

Rutgers is looking to bounce back after an embarrassing Week 1 loss to UMass as a nearly 30-point favorite. Now, the Scarlet Knights head to Boston as 3.5-point underdogs against a Boston College team that also opened the season with a loss. The Eagles were 7.5-point underdogs against Cincinnati and struggled on both sides of the ball, turning the ball over and allowing more than 250 rushing yards. Rutgers has plenty of returning talent, including along the offensive line and at running back, where Antwan Raymond rushed for more than 1,200 yards last season. Week 1 was rock bottom. Rutgers has the opportunity to start climbing out Friday night.

I make Army a five-point favorite. South Florida had a very misleading Week 1 result where they were outgained by 173 yards but won the game by 10 thanks to some turnover luck. Army ran for an inane 569 yards in its Week 1 win, a 59-3 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs. This is a program that loves to run the football and I think they'll run right over South Florida on Saturday.

It was the smoothest of sailings in Matt Campbell's first game on the Penn State sideline, and Saturday's affair against Temple provides another opportunity to see what he has. Temple ran for more than 200 yards and only threw the ball 16 times for 142 yards in its 38-14 win over FCS Rhode Island, but Penn State held Marshall to just 1.7 yards per carry on 26 tries. I suspect another beatdown in favor of the Nittany Lions.

Obviously, it’ll be tough for Oregon to cover the full-game spread (-23.5) if it doesn’t go up big early. Granted, Notre Dame was able to cover as -22 favorites vs. Wisconsin last week despite only leading by three points at halftime, but that’s an outlier.
Furthermore, the Ducks should be motivated to start fast after a slow start in Week 1, and they are on a business trip, which helps them get locked in quicker. Or at least that's my working theory.

UNLV has already covered plenty of ground to open the season, traveling to Hawaii last week before returning to the mainland for a matchup with North Texas. That travel could create a difficult spot for the Rebels, especially against a Mean Green team that showed plenty of fight against reigning national champion Indiana. Despite losing star quarterback Drew Mestemaker to Oklahoma State and undergoing a significant roster overhaul, North Texas still outgained the Hoosiers and averaged 5.5 yards per play in a 52-16 loss. After facing a strong Indiana team, North Texas should be better prepared for this matchup and can make this game competitive.
North Texas is a different team this season, and the spread undervalues that. The Mean Green are 132nd in returning production (32%) and will have their hands full with a UNLV run game that's one of the best in the G6. I'd consider UNLV to cover up to -6.5.

He completed 74% of his passes for 237 yards, and he now faces a Tennessee defense that allowed 28.8 points per game last season. The Yellow Jackets should lean on Justice Haynes and their home-field advantage while using Mendoza’s mobility to extend drives. Tennessee can create pressure, but Georgia Tech has enough passing ability to reach the low 20s. The team-total Over is the better angle than relying on the Yellow Jackets to cover the full spread.

The Vols bring a strong offensive prior into this matchup.
They ranked No. 1 in the SEC in scoring last season, while Georgia Tech allowed 183 rushing yards to Colorado in Week 1. That gives DeSean Bishop a path to a productive night. The Yellow Jackets should contribute, too: Tennessee allowed 28.8 points per game last year and a 60% or better completion rate in 11 of 13 games. Alberto Mendoza completed 17 of 23 passes in his debut. A blended projection lands near 34-24, making the Over 55.5 appealing. I'd play to 56.5

Iowa returns home for another edition of the Cy-Hawk rivalry, and the Hawkeyes have a great opportunity to finally take care of business against Iowa State. The Cyclones have won three of the last four meetings, but this is a different program after Matt Campbell’s departure for Penn State. Iowa, meanwhile, remains under longtime head coach Kirk Ferentz. With the rivalry meaning so much to both sides, expect the Hawkeyes to be locked in from the opening whistle. Iowa has already lost the last two meetings by a combined 4 points, but I’m backing the Hawkeyes to win by two touchdowns.

Ohio State heads to Austin for a rematch of last year's Week 1 matchup, when the Buckeyes defeated Texas 14-7 in Columbus. This time, Ohio State enters as the underdog, creating an appealing outright opportunity. Texas' offense should be much better than last year, but the Longhorns' defense showed some concerning signs against Texas State, allowing nearly 350 total yards. The Bobcats also had opportunities to score more than seven points. Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia did an excellent job preparing for Manning last season, and another strong game plan could give the Buckeyes an edge. Expect Ohio State to start fast and silence the home crowd.

Texas may not be the side to back outright, but taking the points requires believing in Arch Manning to deliver against Ohio State in a rematch of last season’s 14-7 loss. Manning threw for 170 yards with a touchdown and interception in that game, and while I am not fully sold on him, I am certainly not a hater. Texas has plenty of weapons around its young quarterback, but its defense is a concern after allowing nearly 350 yards to Texas State and giving up 8-of-14 third-down conversions. Meanwhile, Ohio State played at a faster tempo last week, which could create scoring opportunities.

Oh, by the way, the Rebels have arguably the biggest home game in school history on deck as they host LSU and former head coach Lane Kiffin next Saturday night. While Charlotte lost outright to FCS The Citadel last week, the market tends to overreact to upset losses to FCS schools more than it does upsets to bad FBS schools. When you factor in my ratings discrepancy and the spot, Charlotte is a best bet.

Running back James Jones and receiver TK King can both be stars in Conference USA, and they'll find the end zone against a poor-performing Hawaii defense (123rd in PFF's defensive grade).

The offensive line (127th in PFF's pass-blocking grade) and receiving unit (126th in receiving grade) are both a mess, which has led to quarterback Micah Alejado completing just 52.2% of his passes for 4.9 yards per attempt. I can't consider an Over with this team until things turn around, especially not unless I get a lower number. The market hasn't adjusted enough yet.

In this example, the Tide are favored to dominate their game against Missouri, outperforming them by at least 24.5 points.
If Alabama does win by more than 25 points, that would mean the Crimson Tide covered the spread. But if the Tide won by just 20 points, then that would mean the Tigers "covered the spread" instead.
If you think the outcome of a game could flip in either direction, then an Over/Under is the way to go. This bet relies on the combined score from both teams and whether it goes Over or Under the point total listed at sportsbooks. Then, who cares who wins?

In this example, oddsmakers have set the total score for the game at 52.5 points. The choice is now up to you. If you think the Tide and Tigers will score a combined total of more than 52.5 points, 53 points or more, then pick the Over. If you're thinking otherwise, then bet the Under, and the bet will hit if they score fewer than 52.5 points.
If the set number was a whole number like 52 points and the two teams score exactly that amount, then it is considered a push and you'd get your money back.
