Expert Premier League moneyline picks for Matchweek 10
Everton vs Coventry City pick: Everton
Everton have quietly climbed into seventh, and Monday's 1-0 win at Newcastle was another example of how difficult David Moyes has made them to break down.
Coventry have won three of their last five league games, so this is hardly a free square, but two of their victories came against the bottom two. At home, I'll trust Everton's organization to be the difference.
Leeds United vs Tottenham pick: Draw
Leeds have drawn five of their first nine matches, and this has the feel of another stalemate at Elland Road. Tottenham looked excellent in their 2-0 win over Palace, but Leeds have conceded just eight league goals and don't give opponents much room.
Spurs are also missing Rodrigo Bentancur through suspension. With so little separating these sides, I'm taking the draw rather than forcing a winner.
Arsenal vs Hull City pick: Arsenal
Arsenal's 1-0 win at Anfield was another reminder that they don't need to be spectacular to get the job done. The league leaders have allowed just five goals in nine matches, and Hull arrive having drawn five of their nine.
Bukayo Saka and William Saliba are injury concerns, but Arsenal still have more than enough quality at home. The price is short for a reason.
Fulham vs Newcastle United pick: Fulham
Fulham's league position doesn't tell the whole story. They created plenty in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Aston Villa, and their season-long expected-goal numbers are far better than their nine actual goals suggest.
Newcastle have taken just 11 points from nine matches and were beaten at home by Everton on Monday. I'll back Fulham to turn that attacking promise into a much-needed home victory.
Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City pick: Manchester City
Manchester City have lost back-to-back league games against Villa and Brighton, but I'm not panicking over the results. City still created more than enough chances to beat Brighton, only to lose 1-0.
Nottingham Forest are 19th with six points and have scored just six times in nine matches. Forest can make life awkward at the City Ground, but City's attacking edge should eventually tell.
Brighton vs Brentford pick: Brighton
Brighton followed their 1-0 win at Manchester City with another 1-0 victory at Getafe on Thursday. Fabian Hurzeler made five changes, so there was some rotation, although the trip to Spain leaves a short turnaround.
Brentford will be fresher, but Brighton have scored 24 goals and conceded just seven in nine league games. I'm trusting that form to carry them through at home.
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool pick: Crystal Palace
Palace needed a late Daichi Kamada goal to draw 1-1 with Hoffenheim on Thursday, and playing part of that match with 10 men won't help their preparation. Mateta is suspended domestically, while Sarr is injured. L
iverpool also had a European trip this week and lost to Arsenal last weekend. It's a risky call, but at 18%, I'll stick with Palace to spring a surprise at Selhurst Park.
Ipswich Town vs Bournemouth pick: Bournemouth
Bournemouth's momentum keeps building. They came from behind to win 3-1 at Sparta Prague on Thursday, stretching their winning streak across competitions to seven matches. Marco Rose made eight changes, and Evanilson was among the substitutes who scored, so key players weren't asked to carry the full load.
Ipswich have conceded 18 goals in nine league games. I'll back Bournemouth to keep rolling at Portman Road.
Sunderland vs Chelsea pick: Chelsea
Sunderland's 2-0 home defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday was hardly ideal preparation for Chelsea. They conceded twice before halftime and now face another demanding test on a short turnaround.
Chelsea have won three of their last four league games, including a 2-0 victory over Manchester United, while Sunderland have already conceded 17 league goals. I like the visitors' extra rest and attacking quality to make the difference.
Manchester United vs Aston Villa pick: Manchester United
United have gone five league games without a victory, so I understand why this pick will raise eyebrows. But Aston Villa's defense has conceded 15 goals in nine matches, and they'll be without suspended Matty Cash and injured Amadou Onana.
Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes should find chances at Old Trafford. Villa are in better form, but I'm backing United to finally take advantage of a vulnerable back line.
