Arsenal are already five points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race. They must not leave St. James' Park empty-handed.

The Gunners equalized in extra time against City last week to avoid their second defeat in five games. After a stellar transfer window, pressure's mounting on manager Mikel Arteta to bring Arsenal their first Premier League title in 21 years.

I see a fair and tough fight between Newcastle and Arsenal, with plenty of goals on offer.

Here are my Newcastle vs. Arsenal predictions and EPL picks for Sunday, September 28.

Premier League predictions for Newcastle vs Arsenal

My Newcastle vs Arsenal best bet: Over 2.5 goals (+105 at Sports Interaction)

These two met in Singapore in July for a friendly game, and it has been great entertainment. Arsenal won the match 3-2. This time, they play on points, and this will add tension.

Ahead of their trip North to face Newcastle, Arsenal sit second in the Premier League, with 10 points in five matches. Arsenal's start to the campaign has been average, with three draws and a single win in their first five games. They are 13th.

There haven't been many goals in this clash recently, but I'll go against the numbers this time. I think both sides will hit the net in a match that could easily go above the 2.5-goal margin.

Arsenal only conceded once each against Liverpool and City, so their defence is looking good. However, Newcastle troubled Liverpool badly, scoring twice against the champions when they met a month ago.

Eddie Howe's team is a different beast when they face the big guns. Last season, they beat Chelsea 2-0, Manchester United 4-1, Aston Villa 3-0, Arsenal 1-0, Tottenham 2-1, as well as drawing 1-1 against City and 3-3 against Liverpool at their own ground.

It's by no means a normal affair playing Newcastle away, and I expect a game bursting with action on Sunday.

Newcastle vs Arsenal same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 2.5 goals

Over 9.5 corners

Nick Woltemade 1+ shots on target

Bukayo Saka 1+ shots on target

Arsenal have an average of 6.6 corners per game this season, with Newcastle at 5.8. Set-pieces will play a big role in the outcome of this game, so I'll go for corners in my parlay.

Nick Woltemade will lead the line for Newcastle, so the club's star signing this summer will be heavily involved in the action up front. The German brought the three points when Wolves came visiting two weeks ago.

He's expected to do more of the same to justify the club-record transfer fee of $87.6 million.

Bukayo Saka is fit again, and that's excellent news for Mikel Arteta's ears. He was already involved with Arsenal and will also play against Newcastle.

Given his hunger after the time he spent away with injury, I think he will look to be the protagonist. I will also include him in my SGP, rounding a nice +650 return.
