Desperation may have set in for Leicester City, but that doesn't mean they'll come out guns blazing with their backs against the wall. Newcastle has owned this matchup, and that won't change.

Newcastle are pushing for a return to the Champions League main round next season. If they are to do it, they can't afford to return home from their trip to Leicester without the three points.

It's only a matter of time before Leicester are confirmed among the relegated teams in the Premier League, just one year after their promotion. Their form has been catastrophic over the past four months, losing 15 of their last 17 games.

My Leicester City vs. Newcastle United predictions can't see them pushing Newcastle aside. Here are our free Premier League betting picks for Monday, April 7.

Premier League predictions for Leicester City vs Newcastle

My best bet: Newcastle to win (-205 at TonyBet)

My analysis

Looking at recent results, it seems like Leicester want to get this season over with before a massive reconstruction. They haven't scored in any of their last seven Premier League games — all losses — and have conceded at least two goals in 14 of 16 league games. They now sit second from the bottom in the Premier League table.

Avoiding relegation is technically still possible, but it's highly unlikely, as Leicester are 15 points behind safety with eight games left to play. Basically, it means they should win every match, hoping that Wolves fail to grab more than seven points (in seven matches).

Newcastle, on the other hand, are in fine form. They've won their previous three games, including the League Cup final against Liverpool on March 16. Taking advantage of City's 0-0 draw in the Manchester Derby and Chelsea's misstep against Brentford — a game that also concluded in a 0-0 draw — Newcastle can jump into the top four should they beat Leicester.

Apart from their form — and their opposite interests in this final part of the campaign — it should be noted that Newcastle won four times and drew once in their last five games with Leicester. Leicester scored only one goal in a 2-1 defeat back in April 2022 during that run. Since then, Newcastle hit the net nine times over the next four clashes, without conceding any.

I'll stick to the moneyline, even though goals are tempting. The Over 2.5 sits at -141 via TonyBet, with Over 3.5 now at a great +175 return.

Leicester City vs Newcastle same-game parlay (SGP)

Newcastle to win

Alexander Isak to score

Over 4.5 bookings

Alexander Isak is Newcastle's main man. He scored seven goals in his last seven games at club level, including a brace against high-flying Nottingham Forest. I'm backing him to find the net against Leicester as well. You can also consider the 2+ if you're after more juice with this parlay.

Leicester might not be doing well when points are concerned, but they sit fifth in bookings. They have collected 68 yellow cards, an average of 2.26 per game. Moods are not good inside the locker room right now, and that should be visible during the match against Newcastle too. This type of tension that you now see in Leicester often translates into events that finally lead to cards.
