Canada and Guatemala meet in Sunday's Gold Cup quarterfinals at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Given the number of goals Guatemala has conceded lately, my Canada vs. Guatemala predictions call for the Canadians to win this one going away.

Find out why in my Gold Cup free picks for Sunday, June 29.

Canada vs Guatemala picks and predictions

My Canada vs Guatemala best bet: Canada -1.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

The Canadian Men's National team has a legitimate chance to win the Gold Cup for the first time since 2000.

They have a very, very winnable game on deck against Guatemala, and then another winnable game against the United States, a team that they've beaten inside of 90 minutes in three of the last five meetings. But we'll get to that semifinal match in due time.

On Sunday, versus Guatemala, Canada will have the best players on the pitch at every position. They have a solid striker in Jonathan David, who is all but guaranteed to be plying his trade in Italy at Juventus next season. Jacob Shaffelburg continues to provide electric play out wide, while the midfield combo of Tajon Buchanan and Promise David (no relation to Jonathan) are doing the bulk of the heavy lifting.

Through three games, Canada has covered this -1.5 goal line in two of them, with the lone setback being a 1-1 draw vs. lowly Curacao.

I expect Canada to dominate possession against Guatemala and create plenty of clear-cut chances. This Guatemalan defense has been unlocked plenty and have kept just one clean sheet across their last six matches in all competitions.

I'll take the better all-around team here to pick up a convincing win.

Canada vs Guatemala same-game parlay (SGP)

Canada to win by 2+ goals

Jonathan David to score

Both teams to score — No

Jonathan David finished fourth in Ligue 1 scoring this past season and has brought his goalscoring boots for Canada. He netted in Canada's 2-0 win over El Salvador and set up one in limited action vs. Honduras. He's also netted two in a friendly vs. Ukraine and one in the Nations League third-place game vs. the U.S.

Simply put, he's the man for the job.

Guatemala benefited from a weak group, netting three of their four goals vs. a Guadeloupe side who gave up 10 total. They are a team that does not offer much going forward, and Canada's defense has been solid throughout this tournament.
