Georgia is a crucial state in this year’s Midterm elections. With a crucial Senate seat that could shape Senate control odds and one of the state’s most exciting gubernatorial races, the Peach State is buzzing with intrigue.

With state government control up for grabs, the youngest Senator in the country seeking re-election, and the state’s newfound swing-state status moving forward, Georgia is one of the most important states in 2026 midterm odds.

Georgia Senate race odds 2026

Georgia is one of the only plausible Republican pickup opportunities this cycle, where Jon Ossoff scraped through in his first election. Ossoff actually came in second in 2020, but Georgia’s runoff requirement when no candidate hits 50% meant that he was able to narrowly enter the Senate. His narrow victory margin, and the fact that Donald Trump won Georgia in 2024, make Ossoff a top Republican target. That all said, he’s a 97% favorite to win right now.

Republicans are running a controversial Congressman in Mike Collins, leading many to consider Ossoff the favorite. A Republican win would functionally end Democrats' chances of winning the Senate, and Georgia’s ancestral red hue makes Ossoff theoretically vulnerable. But right now, 2026 Georgia Senate odds make the young Democrat a sizable favorite.

Georgia Governor and statewide election odds

Republicans are slight favorites to hold the Georgia Governorship. Twice-elected incumbent Brian Kemp is term-limited, handing Democrats an easier chance to flip the Governorship. Democrats are running former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, currently a 47% underdog at Kalshi.

Bottoms is underrunning Jon Ossoff in the Senate race, but Georgia has moved left in recent years as the Atlanta suburbs have gone red to blue. With Bottoms having an incumbent Democrat to campaign with, and Republicans forced to run a relatively unknown businessman in Rick Jackson, the race is wide open.

Georgia polls vs. prediction market odds

Source type What it shows Limitation
Polls Voter preference at a specific moment Can lag events or miss turnout shifts
Prediction markets Trader-implied probability Can be affected by liquidity, volume and participant bias
Forecasts Model-based projection Assumptions vary by model
Fundraising reports Campaign strength and donor support Does not always translate to votes

Prediction markets and polls are measuring different things and are not interchangeable. Polls are snapshots of voters’ intentions at a given time, while prediction markets are a live-updating indicator of market probabilities. When breaking news and key information emerge, prediction markets can move first, before polls show any impact.

Why Georgia matters in the 2026 midterms

Georgia is incredibly important in the 2026 Midterms. The Governor’s race represents Democrats’ best chance to build on their momentum in the state after their statewide wins in 2020 and 2022. Control of the Governor’s Mansion in Georgia would give Democrats a foothold in state government they haven’t had in two decades. A Democratic victory would also ensure any future Senate appointments would remain Democratic, allowing either of Georgia’s Democratic Senators to run for President in 2028.

The Senate seat looks to be slightly less competitive, but is by no means unimportant. Jon Ossoff was the deciding vote in the Democrats’ majority under Joe Biden, and Democrats need him to win again to have any chance of holding the Senate. With Democrats needing four net gains, any loss and the uphill climb becomes a mountain.
