The Stanley Cup Final returns to Rogers Place with the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers tied 2-2 and hitting the ice for Game 5 on June 14.

Edmonton was bailed out by backup goalie Calvin Pickard on Thursday, and he headlines my top Panthers vs. Oilers predictions and NHL picks for Saturday’s showdown.

Who will win Panthers vs Oilers Game 5?

Home ice has been kind to the Oilers, with Edmonton going 7-2 and averaging a monster 4.56 goals per game while clicking at a 42.3% clip with the man advantage.

The Oilers should see the momentum pendulum swing further in their direction following the comeback win in Game 4, and I value head coach Kris Knoblauch having the luxury of the last-change advantage to find softer on-ice matchups for superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

My Panthers vs Oilers pick: Calvin Pickard Over 25.5 saves (-110 at BET99)

Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has turned to backup Calvin Pickard in consecutive games, and the No. 2 option stopped 22 of 23 shots in Game 4 to backstop the comeback win when starter Stuart Skinner was pulled after allowing three goals on 17 shots in the first period.

I expect Pickard to start Game 5 given his perfect 7-0 postseason record.

While the Edmonton backup hasn’t posted eye-popping numbers with a run-of-the-mill .896 SV% and 2.69 GAA, the Oilers just need average goaltending to win, and Pickard has clearly answered when called upon.

The Florida Panthers have driven 5-on-5 possession with a 54.8 Corsi For percentage when adjusted for score and venue during the Stanley Cup Final, and I’m anticipating another surge from the Cats in Game 5 because of the back-and-forth nature of the series.

A trio of overtimes has skewed the numbers this series, but Florida has still averaged 36.3 shots per game.

Panthers vs Oilers same-game parlay (SGP)

Calvin Pickard Over 25.5 saves

Oilers moneyline

Sam Reinhart Over 2.5 shots on goal

I’m anticipating Edmonton to keep rolling in Game 5 after overcoming a 3-0 deficit to win Game 4. The Oilers have been tough to top on home ice, and won the expected-goals battle at 55.8% in Game 1 and 2 at Rogers Place.

Additionally, superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have combined for 33 points across nine games at Rogers Place this postseason. Look for Nos. 97 and 29 to have their say again Saturday.

Panthers winger Sam Reinhart has racked up 17 shots on 29 attempts while leading all Cats forwards in ice time through the first four games of the series, and he ranks in the 99th percentile of forwards in shots on goal during the playoffs.
