This Sin City nightcap has the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vegas Golden Knights trading as a pick ‘em ahead of their 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
My favorite Lightning vs. Golden Knights prediction and NHL picks call for the total to go Under the number in this bout between Stanley Cup contenders.
TOP PICK
Lightning vs Golden Knights prediction: Under 6.5
This is a tape-measuring matchup between two of the league's best defensive teams, both near the top of the Stanley Cup odds.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have allowed just 2.63 goals per game and rank fifth in expected goals percentage, despite star goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy starting slowly.
Vasilevskiy’s .886 save percentage is well below the .916 mark he posted across the past two regular seasons. Meanwhile, Vegas Golden Knights No. 1 Carter Hart has been excellent, with a .911 SV% and 5.91 goals saved above expected through six starts.
With statistical correction coming for Vasilevskiy, and the Golden Knights allowing just 2.33 goals per home game, I’d recommend this Under up to 56%.

Lightning vs Golden Knights combo
While I expect Vasilevskiy to improve, his save percentage over the past three years dipped from an elite .922 mark at home to a middling .905 mark on the highway.
The Golden Knights also boast a league-leading +18 goal differential and are 5-1 on home ice to start the season, while the Lightning check in with a run-of-the-mill +4 mark.
Vegas star Jack Eichel has recorded at least three shots on goal in four of his past six games, totaling 20 SOG on 29 attempts and a rock-solid 9.92 shots per 60 minutes.

Lightning vs Golden Knights player prop: Jack Eichel 3+ shots on goal
In addition to Eichel's solid overall shot foundation, his power-play production has also dropped sharply. Over the past three years, he averaged 15.61 shots and 26.13 attempts per 60 minutes on the man advantage, compared with 2.67 and 12.04 marks to start the 2026-27 campaign.
This small sample is an unsustainable outlier.
Eichel has also posted a high-end 56.1 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5, and Vegas head coach Ryan Craig has the last-change advantage to help dictate the on-ice matchups for his No. 1 center tonight.
This Over is in play up to 60%.
Lightning vs Golden Knights goal scorer: Brayden Point
Tampa Bay forward Brayden Point has been limited to a 13.1% shooting percentage since the beginning of the 2025-26 season, and he’s only scored once this year despite 2.93 individual expected goals and 15 high-danger scoring chances.
Point scored 139 times with a 21.4 SH% over the previous three years, while skating in the same go-to offensive role, so I expect statistical correction after he focused on expanding his scoring zone and tight-area scoring in the offseason.
I recommend Point to find the back of the net up to 34%.
