The Calgary Flames are trying to push their way up the Pacific Division ladder, and they’ll face one of the teams they’re looking up to tonight when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.

On their best offensive spell of the season, my Flames vs. Kings prediction expects the visitors to pull off an upset.

Here are my NHL picks for December 13.

Flames vs Kings prediction

Flames vs Kings best bet: Flames moneyline (+150)

The Calgary Flames have been playing their best hockey of the season, though it was stunted slightly last game, losing 4-3 at home to the Detroit Red Wings.

Still, that wrapped up a successful 3-1 homestand for Calgary, which is only above Vancouver in the Pacific Division standings.

In the larger view, the Flames have gone 7-4-1 over their last 12, finding offensive success: In five of those wins, they've scored at least four goals. Defensively, they’ve also allowed two goals or fewer in seven of those outings.

The Los Angeles Kings are coming off a 3-2 OT loss to the Seattle Kraken — ending a modest two-game win streak — and they're only 4-2-4 over their last 10.

Calgary has owned this head-to-head of late, winning three straight and five of the last six meetings. I like the trend to continue tonight.

Flames vs Kings same-game parlay

Nazem Kadri has picked up at least a point in four of his five December games, scoring one goal in that span. A trip to L.A. might do him some good. Last time at Crypto.com Arena, he finished with two goals in a 5-1 win.

Matt Coronato has four points in his last four games, including a goal against Detroit. Coronato has a goal and three assists in the previous three games against L.A., picking up at least a point in every game.
