Both the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers enter their Week 4 showdown with 2-1 records, heading to Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, on Sunday, September 28.

My Vikings vs. Steelers predictions and NFL picks view the two postseason hopefuls as anything but equals, as I expect Minnesota to take care of business on both sides of the ball across the pond.

Vikings vs Steelers prediction

Vikings vs Steelers Best bet: Vikings -2.5 (-114)

The Minnesota Vikings defense has shown up to start the season, and I don’t give the Pittsburgh Steelers a lot of credit for winning two of three to start the year, given they’ve faced the third-softest schedule per PFF.

As a result, I’m happy to side with Minny with the spread below the key number of 3.0.

The Vikings represent a huge uptick in class for the Steelers, and Minny QB Carson Wentz played the game-manager role to perfection against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3.

Wentz tossed it around for a healthy 8.6 yards per attempt while connecting on 14 of 20 passes, and he also finished sixth in adjusted EPA per play and fourth in air yards.

Returning to the Minny defense, the Vikings have allowed the lowest EPA per play while ranking second in defensive DVOA and 10th in PFF defense grade.

I don't expect the Pittsburgh offense to suddenly flip the switch, considering its respective ranks of 17th, 21st, and 30th in those offensive metrics.

Vikings vs Steelers same-game parlay

Vikings running back Jordan Mason showed off in the lead role in Week 3 with 116 rushing yards while finding paydirt twice. I’m expecting an uptick in carries in a closer and lower-scoring game against the Steelers on Sunday, too.

Minnesota No. 1 wide receiver Justin Jefferson hasn’t found the end zone since Week 1, so I like the chances the go-to weapon in the aerial attack scores in Week 4. Jefferson scored 10 times across 17 games last season, and this isn’t a nightmare matchup.

The Steelers have allowed the second-highest catch percentage to opposing wide receivers (75.5%) while also allowing the 12th-highest yards per target (8.72).

Our big-ticket SGP: Seeing green

A nearly identical Pittsburgh defense ranked third in PFF grade and eighth in DVOA while holding opponents to the ninth-lowest EPA per play last year, so I’m anticipating the Steelers showing up just enough to help this total stay Under the number.
