Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will face off against his former team with the Minnesota Vikings visiting Lumen Field on Sunday, November 30.

My early Vikings vs. Seahawks predictions and NFL picks are calling for Darnold and the Seattle defense to lead the way in a lopsided Week 13 win.

Early Vikings vs Seahawks spread pick: Seahawks -9.5

-105 at FanDuel

The Minnesota Vikings have lost five of six out of their Week 6 bye, and heading to Lumen Field to take on the 8-3 Seattle Seahawks is a tough task. Seattle is pacing the NFL in DVOA and has been a covering machine with a matching 8-3 record against the spread this season.

Of course, Minny is also receiving league-low production from quarterback J.J. McCarthy, while Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold is second in both adjusted EPA per play and PFF passing grade.

Darnold will also be facing Minnesota for the first time since starting for the Vikings last season, and I’m anticipating him continuing his strong play.

Returning to McCarthy, he’s set to face another nightmarish defense, with the Seattle defense ranking fifth in pressure percentage despite blitzing at the third-lowest rate in the NFL. The Seahawks also rank first in defensive DVOA while allowing the fifth-lowest EPA per play.

It’s a lot of points to lay, but Seattle has the firepower to pull away and defense to keep McCarthy in check.

Early Vikings vs Seahawks total pick: Under 42.5

-115 at FanDuel

McCarthy has a 52.5 completion percentage while throwing for just 5.3 yards per attempt and posting the lowest adjusted EPA per play over his past four starts, and the Vikings have scored just 17.3 points per game.

As noted, the Seattle defense has been a statistical juggernaut and allowed the seventh-fewest points per game and second-fewest yards per play, so I’m not anticipating McCarthy flipping the switch.

It’s not going to be the easiest day for Darnold, either.

Minnesota blitzes at the highest rate in the NFL and ranks second in pressure percentage, so with the Vikings also having plenty of familiarity with their former starting QB, I’m anticipating Darnold and the Seattle offense to game plan for a lot of quick-hit throws while also leaning on the running game more than usual.
