The Minnesota Vikings are a distant fourth in the powerful NFC North this season, but aren’t packing it in by any means.
Minnesota comes to AT&T Stadium for a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15, and my Vikings vs. Cowboys predictions believe the oddsmakers aren’t giving the visitor enough respect.
Here are my best NFL picks for December 14.

Vikings vs Cowboys Best bet: Vikings +6.5 (-115)
The Minnesota Vikings proved they're still playing for something in last weekend’s squash of the Washington Commanders, putting forth perhaps their most complete football game of the entire season.
The defense stumbled out of the gates, the offensive line was in shambles, J.J. McCarthy suffered through growing pains and injury, and a treacherous schedule offered little breathing room.
While last week’s win may have come against a broken Commanders squad, McCarthy and the offense ran a balanced playbook that marched for 25 first downs and 5.1 yards per play — the second-best EPA per play performance of Week 14.
That finally provided some backing for a Minnesota defense that has found its form in the second half of the season.
Since Week 9, the Vikings rank Top 10 in EPA allowed per play and opponent success rate despite playing some very good teams (Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago, Green Bay, and Chicago).
Minnesota blitzes at the highest rate, creating the third-most pressure per dropback. That’s not only generated a ton of QB hurries, hits, and sacks, but opposing passers haven’t had time for deeper plays to develop, with the Vikes allowing the fewest completions of 20-plus yards.
The Dallas Cowboys are right up there with the most explosive attacks in the land, but are dependent on those home-run plays. With Dak Prescott feeling the heat, this Cowboys playbook could shorten up entering Week 15 with some injuries at key spots.
Star receiver CeeDee Lamb is working his way through concussion protocol, TE Jake Ferguson is nursing a calf injury, and standout OT Tyler Guyton hasn’t practiced — a big loss against this vaunted Vikings’ pass rush.

Injuries, inconsistency, and SOS has held back the Vikings. They’re finally putting it all together in the home stretch. Give me the +6.5 with Minnesota.
McCarthy looked comfortable last week and takes on a soft Dallas secondary, with projections well above 200 yards.
Justin Jefferson is a zone buster and faces a zone-heavy scheme from this bad Cowboys secondary. Some of Minnesota’s other options are nursing injuries in Week 15.
