The New York Giants topped the Philadelphia Eagles 34-17 in Week 6, and the two NFC East foes will hit Lincoln Financial Field for a rematch Sunday, October 26.

My early Giants vs. Eagles predictions and NFL picks call for another high-scoring game, with New York covering the number in Week 8.

Giants vs Eagles predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Giants vs Eagles spread pick: Giants +7

The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t been pulling away from opponents during their active 2-2 stretch, while the New York Giants are 3-1 against the spread and 2-2 straight up run the past four weeks.

In particular, Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has provided a spark with a 10th-ranked adjusted EPA per play and 11th-ranked success rate. He’s mobile, and the Giants are 18th in dropback success rate the past four weeks after ranking 28th to start the season.

While I fully expect Philly to win at home, a backdoor cover is also definitely in the cards.

Philadelphia is 23rd in defensive DVOA with the fifth-lowest pressure percentage, and New York just put 32 points on the board and led for the majority of Sunday’s road game against the Denver Broncos in Week 7.

The Broncos, of course, pace the NFL in defensive DVOA and pressure percentage. Simply put, this is a big number for a divisional rematch.

Early Giants vs Eagles total pick: Over 43.5

In addition to the highlighted ho-hum defensive metrics for the Eagles, the Giants haven’t been a force on that side of the ball, either.

New York has surrendered the 10th most points per game and seventh-highest EPA per play while ranking 18th in defensive DVOA. The Giants have also been particularly weak against the run and allowed the third-most yards and fourth-highest EPA per carry.

I’m anticipating Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley having a much larger impact in Week 8 than he did in the Week 6 loss, as a result.

Of course, Eagles QB Jalen Hurts also got on track with a sterling showing against a tough Minnesota Vikings defense Sunday. He aired it out for 326 yards and three touchdowns at a monster 14.2 yards per attempt and the highest EPA per play of the week.
