The first Sunday of the NFL season is always one of the best days of the year and this week we’re going to explore the three best selections to score the first touchdown in their respective games.

We’ve crunched the numbers and found the three First TD scorers that you need to back this weekend.

Here are my best three NFL picks for First Touchdown Scorers in Week 1.

TD prop #1: Brock Bowers

The Las Vegas Raiders face the New England Patriots this Sunday and Brock Bowers is the selection that we’re backing to open the scoring.

Bowers had an incredible rookie season, although he didn’t score many touchdowns, only finishing with five.

The good news is that this season he gets a chance to improve on that and he’s in a far better position to do so.

We should see an improved Raiders team this year. They have a threat at running back with Ashton Jeanty and in Geno Smith they have a significant quarterback upgrade.

That alone should increase Bowers’ chances of scoring but what also stands out is the lack of competition in terms of pass catchers.

Amari Cooper has retired meaning that Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker and Dont’e Thornton Jr. are starting and none of them offer the threat of Bowers.

TD prop #2: Josh Jacobs

+400 at DraftKings

The Green Bay Packers start the season at Lambeau and although the Detroit Lions are one of the Super Bowl favorites, there’s every reason to believe that the Packers score first.

They have home advantage, a new receiving threat in Matthew Golden, and face a Lions team who are now without previous OC Ben Johnson.

When it comes to backing a Packer to score first, the temptation is to back their new WR1 Golden at big odds but realistically you can’t look past old reliable Josh Jacobs

He racked up 17 touchdowns last season and comes into this having scored in nine consecutive games.

When the Packers are in the red zone, the ball will be in the hands of Jacobs.

TD prop #3: JK Dobbins

+750 at DraftKings

We’re getting a good value price on JK Dobbins to open the scoring for the Denver Broncos against the Tennessee Titans. Firstly, Dobbins looked reborn last year, scoring nine touchdowns as he found his health again at the Chargers.

The other good news is that Dobbins is the starter, despite the drafting of RJ Harvey, who only has marginally higher odds.

Then there’s the fact that he’s playing the Titans, a team who gave up the most touchdowns to running backs last year. They gave up 15 along the ground but a high seven TDs through the air to the position.

Dobbins is more than capable in the passing game and at these odds his value leaps out against a poor Titans team.
