The 49ers enter as heavy favorites after a dominant Week 2 showing, while Miami faces another difficult test. Our early angles target the spread and total for Sunday’s matchup.

San Francisco made an early statement with a dominant Week 1 win over the Super Bowl favorites, and oddsmakers expect more of the same this weekend.

The Niners are 13.5-point favorites for Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff at Levi’s Stadium, and my Dolphins vs. 49ers predictions break down whether they can cover the massive number.

Early Dolphins vs 49ers spread pick: 49ers -13.5

Kalshi probability: 50%

I'd buy the San Francisco 49ers up to -16.5 because they had the most impressive win in the NFL last week, dogwalking the Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams 27-7 in Australia. The Miami Dolphins were outclassed in a 27-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, who were the worst team in the league last season.

San Francisco is a legit Super Bowl contender as long as its stars stay healthy. The Niners have perhaps four future Hall of Famers on offense: RB Christian McCaffrey, TE George Kittle, LT Trent Williams and WR Mike Evans, and QB Brock Purdy is criminally underrated.

Miami is projected to be the worst team in the AFC and doesn't have nearly the same continuity as San Francisco. The Dolphins have a rookie head coach (Jeff Hafley) and a first-year starting quarterback (Malik Willis).

Early Dolphins vs 49ers total pick: Under 45.5

Kalshi probability: 52%

Give me the Under down to 42.5, which is a key number in the NFL.

Despite ranking 25th in points per game allowed (25.4) in the NFL last season and not improving their roster much this offseason, the Raiders held the Dolphins to 13 points last week. San Francisco is a massive step up in competition.

The 49ers have their two best defensive players back after they suffered season-ending injuries last season: EDGE Nick Bosa and MLB Fred Warner. They held QB Matt Stafford to 155 passing yards last week, which is his second-worst total since joining the Rams

Lastly, "blowouts are where Overs go to die" because teams take their foot off the pedal in the second half.
