The NFL returns to take over our lives for the next six months, kicking off tonight with the Cowboys visiting the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia enters as an 8-point favorite, with the total set at 47.5 just hours before kickoff.

In my Cowboys vs. Eagles predictions, I expect the defending champs and their fans to be fired up to raise a banner and carry last season’s momentum into this opener.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys face an uphill battle, still reeling from the recent trade of defensive cornerstone Micah Parsons.

Cowboys vs Eagles prediction

Cowboys vs Eagles Best bet: Eagles -8 (-115)

I think we could have a bloodbath on our hands in the season opener.

While the Philadelphia Eagles are clearly one of the best teams in the league with a great home-field advantage, the Dallas Cowboys enter the game and the season with an avalanche of red flags.

I don’t think it’s realistic to expect the best version of Dak Prescott right off the bat. He missed the final nine games of last season after undergoing hamstring surgery, and in the games he did play in, he struggled.

Dak posted a career-worst QB rating in 2024 and will now be tasked with leading this Cowboys offense against an Eagles defense that allowed just 16.6 points per game last season, and which also led the NFL in yards allowed per pass attempt.

The Eagles enter the season on a 10-game home winning streak and annihilated the Cowboys by a score of 41-7 when the teams last met in Philadelphia in December of last season. Yes, Dak Prescott didn’t play, but neither did Jalen Hurts.

Let’s also consider that Brian Schottenheimer is making his head coaching debut. I’m sure he’d much rather be hosting the Giants at home than being in an uncomfortable environment against a great team while dealing with a bunch of drama as he tries to prepare his team for a new season.

Considering all factors, I don’t find a credible reason to believe the Cowboys will keep it close.

Cowboys vs Eagles TNF same-game parlay

With the potential for a blowout, or at the very least, the Eagles offense easily going up and down the field on the Cowboys defense, I expect Dallas to be playing from behind and for Dak to be throwing a lot.

Look for the Eagles to get Saquon Barkley heavily involved for obvious reasons, too.

Cowboys vs Eagles 4-Leg SGP

  • Dak Prescott o0.5 Interceptions Thrown (-160)
  • Dak Prescott o36.5 Passing Attempts (-115)
  • Saquon Barkley Score a Touchdown (Yes: -185)
  • Eagles moneyline (-425)

Our big-ticket SGP: Hurts gets his fill

  • Let's throw in Hurts to go Over his rushing yards vs. a Dallas defense that allowed the most rushing yards per game to QBs last season.

Cowboys vs Eagles 5-Leg SGP

  • Eagles moneyline (-425)
  • Dak Prescott o0.5 Interceptions Thrown (-160)
  • Dak Prescott o36.5 Passing Attempts (-115)
  • Saquon Barkley Score a Touchdown (Yes: -185)
  • Jalen Hurts o36.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

Cowboys vs Eagles game predictions

Cowboys vs Eagles moneyline prediction

These are two teams going in wildly different direction. Never mind winning, I don’t even think Dallas can keep this one close. Give me the Eagles to extend their home winning streak to 11 games.

Cowboys vs Eagles spread prediction

I expect the Eagles to be fired up in front of their home fans, while the Cowboys simply have too much to overcome this early in the season to keep this game competitive. The wheels could come off early for Dallas, and I think the Eagles cover the spread with ease.

Cowboys vs Eagles Over/Under prediction

While I have no doubt that the Eagles will find the end zone with regularity, I don’t have the same confidence in a potentially rusty Prescott going against a defense that allowed just 16.6 points per game at home last season. As a result, I think the game stays Under.

Cowboys vs Eagles odds

    • Spread: Dallas +8 | Philadelphia -8
    • Moneyline: Dallas +325 | Philadelphia -425
    • Over/Under: Over 47.5 | Under 47.5

Cowboys vs Eagles weather

Rain could start before this 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, making for a soggy Super Bowl ceremony. A threat of thundershowers also looms around the opening whistle, according to some weather models.

Forecasts indicate a 69% chance of precipitation around 8 p.m. ET, with light to moderate showers intensifying between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET, accompanied by an 80% chance of rain.

Slippery footballs can lead to fumbles and dropped passes, something that should concern Dallas fans. The Cowboys topped the NFL with 14 fumbles in 2024.

Winds are forecasted between 10 and 12 mph with gusts up to 31 mph, blowing south from sideline to sideline at The Linc. Those breezes are expected to lighten in the final 60 minutes, dropping to 8 mph with gusts of 22 mph.
