Stanford is coming off a big win over Hawaii, but the celebration will be short-lived. The Cardinal now have to turn around and welcome No. 7 Miami to town, giving them a much tougher test on Sept. 4.
How will Stanford handle one of the most talked-about teams of the offseason on its home field?
Let's dive into my early Miami vs. Stanford predictions and college football picks to find out, with kickoff at 9 p.m. ET.

Early Miami vs Stanford spread pick: Miami -24.5
This number opened at -21.5 in favor of the Hurricanes and has since climbed to -25.5 at some books. With some -23.5s still out there, I would lean toward that number in favor of Miami.
However, if this number climbs even higher, it would probably be worth waiting if you think Miami will come out swinging.
The Hurricanes have nothing to look forward to following this game, as they host Florida A&M on Sept. 10. With how weak their schedule is, they need to pull out the belt early and make a statement that the hype is real.
Plus, Darian Mensah is light-years more talented than Micah Alejado, so he should be able to carve up that Stanford defense that Alejado managed to throw for almost 270 yards while completing 60% of his passes.
As of right this second, lean with Miami to cover.

Early Miami vs Stanford total pick: Under 47.5
Stanford won't have the same offensive production it had against Hawaii, as it will face yet another fully loaded Miami defense.
Against the Rainbow Warriors, the Cardinal put up 37 points, while racking up over 480 total yards of offense. It will be highly unlikely they can replicate that this week. The Hurricanes brought in a lot of talent to fill the holes left by last year's defense.
Stanford's defense will be in for a long game, as this will be its first true test of the season. With this being Miami's first game, there will likely be a little rust on the offensive side of the ball, which could keep this game below 47.5.
However, the scoring should mainly come from the road favorite here
