Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected around Baton Rouge Saturday afternoon, with the greatest concern coming during the tailgating hours before LSU and Clemson kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Conditions should gradually improve toward kickoff, but a completely dry start is not guaranteed. The early morning forecast called for a few storms that could linger into the early evening, while the latest hourly guidance shows the rain chance falling as kickoff approaches.
Any storm that reaches Tiger Stadium could bring a quick burst of heavy rain and frequent lightning. The National Weather Service says the overall severe-weather threat is low, although an isolated stronger storm could also produce gusty winds.
Outside of thunderstorms, wind should remain light and have little effect on the passing or kicking games. Temperatures are expected to fall through the mid-80s shortly after kickoff with plenty of humidity remaining after a hot afternoon.

How weather could impact Clemson vs LSU
If the storm timing holds, LSU and Clemson should avoid the worst of today's weather. The bigger question is whether one of the afternoon storms hangs around long enough to affect warmups or the opening portion of the game.
Tiger Stadium has a natural Bermuda-grass surface, and LSU has long used a sand-based field profile designed to move water through the playing surface. The school has also undertaken drainage work at the stadium, so afternoon rain alone does not mean the field will be sloppy by kickoff.
A shower near game time could make grip and footing more difficult, while lightning around the stadium could force a delay. Both become much bigger concerns if the storms tonight run later than currently expected.

Kalshi traders currently price LSU at a 77% probability to win with Clemson priced at 23%. The total points market is more sensitive to the weather tonight with the probability of more than 50.5 points sitting at 49%.
If the afternoon storms fade as expected and wind stays light, weather should have little impact on the final tally. A storm lingering over Tiger Stadium around kickoff would change that, especially if heavy rain affects the field or lightning interrupts the game.
For now, late-afternoon radar matters more than the daily rain icon. The forecast is worth watching, but it is not strong enough to make weather the driving factor in the market.
