Baylor and Washington will meet up in Waco on November 9 to close the opening weekend of college basketball.

The Huskies already have two games under their belts, both of which were double-digit wins. Meanwhile, Baylor opened its season with a 15-point win over UTRGV.

This should be a high-scoring affair, and my Baylor vs. Washington predictions and college basketball picks expect Hannes Steinbach to play a part in that.

Washington vs Baylor prediction

Washington vs Baylor best bet: Hannes Steinbach Over 13.5 points (+100)

Among this year's European crop in college basketball, I was easily most excited about Hannes Steinbach.

So far, the German product has backed it up. I see no reason not to back him here against a defense that, in a small sample, appears to be continuing Baylor’s steady defensive decline.

He heads into this game averaging 17 points over his last two games, which are, to be fair, mostly empty stats. The Washington Huskies had a great talent advantage over each team they played, and Steinbach was able to overwhelm them with his footwork.

The good news for Washington, and specifically for Steinbach, is the area where Baylor struggled most in its opener is where he works best.

Against a much lesser opponent, Baylor allowed a startling 1.52 points per possession on big cuts and rolls, along with a below-average 0.92 points per possession on post-ups.

The former is especially concerning because that’s how Steinbach is used most often. He can play away from the rim and beat opposing bigs to the basket because of his lateral quickness.

I think that will be on full display tonight, and a Bears defense that hasn’t been good over the last few years will continue to get exposed.

Washington vs Baylor same-game parlay

Not trying to reinvent the wheel here with this same-game parlay. Each of these defenses project to be below average this season, and both offenses have high-level talents. I projected 159.5.

Cameron Carr should be able to run wild against a transition defense that has been awful so far.

Washington vs Baylor SGP

  • Hannes Steinbach Over 13.5 points
  • Over 156.5
  • Cameron Carr Over 17.5 points

Our beyond the arc SGP: Go Huskies

I’m not the biggest fan of the Wesley Yates fit in this system going forward. However, in this matchup, he should thrive in transition.

I finished things up with Washington to get the cover in this same-game parlay. This is too many points considering the defensive issues Baylor has.
