The UConn Huskies have a 35-game winning streak on the line when they meet the Syracuse Orange in the second round of Women’s March Madness action.

The Huskies boast an elite and opportunistic defense, and my Syracuse vs. UConn predictions expect Syracuse to struggle to score.

Read on for my Women’s March Madness picks for Monday, March 23.

Syracuse vs UConn prediction

Who will win Syracuse vs UConn?

UConn: The UConn Huskies are the real deal. They’ve won 35 straight behind a dominant, opportunistic defense and an efficient offense that the Syracuse Orange will struggle to contain. The Orange lack the scoring punch to keep pace, making UConn the clear favorite to advance comfortably.

Syracuse vs UConn best bet: Syracuse team total Under 52.5 (-125 at bet365)

The UConn Huskies bring one of the nation’s top defenses into this matchup, allowing just 50 points per game while holding opponents to 33% shooting and only 27% from three.

The Syracuse Orange generate just 23% of their points from beyond the arc and rely heavily on interior scoring, which plays directly into UConn’s stout interior defense.

The Huskies have not allowed more than 53 points in over a month, and with their ability to control the game from baseline to baseline and limit quality shots, Syracuse won't clear its team total.

Covers COVERS INTEL: While the UConn defense typically leads them to lopsided victories, it boasts an unselfish offense averaging 27.5 assists per game.

Syracuse vs UConn same-game parlay (SGP)

Syracuse team total Under 52.5

UConn 1st half -19.5

UConn -35.5

UConn’s defense drives this matchup, especially via turnovers. The Huskies force nearly 25 per game and convert them into 34 points.

Syracuse averages 16 turnovers and struggles protecting the ball, setting up enough easy buckets for UConn's first-half cover.

That should create a large enough gap, forcing Syracuse to rush its long-range shots, allowing UConn to cover the massive game spread.
