Against the spread (ATS) pick

Georgetown is coming off a stunning upset of No. 1 seed Villanova in the quarterfinals. The Hoyas took down the Wildcats 72-71 as six-point underdogs. It was Georgetown’s sixth win in its last eight games and they haven’t lost to a team not named Connecticut since Feb. 9. That includes an 81-75 win over Seton Hall as 4.5-point underdogs back on Feb. 20.

The Hoyas have back-to-back Big East Tournament wins as underdogs thanks to cleaning up the boards, making their free throws, and hitting some clutch shots when needed. Georgetown has won the rebounding battle in both tournament games and has hit 39-45 free throws, including a perfect 23-23 from the line against Nova.

Seton Hall, on the other hand, outlasted St. John’s 77-69 in overtime in its conference tournament-opening game. In doing so, the Pirates ended a four-game losing streak, but can they keep the momentum going?

Prior to the win, Seton Hall had not only dropped four in a row, but closed the season 5-8, with two of those wins coming against last-place DePaul. And while the Pirates are a solid team, they are at a clear disadvantage on the glass and they struggle to guard the perimeter. Seton Hall ranks 315th in the country in opponent 3-point percentage and now faces the Big East’s second-best shooting team from beyond the arc.

We’re betting the Hoyas keep using their recipe for success as Patrick Ewing wins another big game at the Garden. (But take the points just to be safe).

PREDICTION: Georgetown +2 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

When it comes to the total, these two Big East rivals split the number in their two meetings this season. The first meeting back on Dec. 23 slipped Under the 147 total by just two points, while the second matchup easily eclipsed the 145.5 by 10.5 points. That has us liking the Over 142 for Friday’s matchup.

Additionally, the Hoyas have picked up their scoring lately, averaging 72.3 points per game over their last eight games. And while the Seton Hall offense has its ups and downs, they still averaged 71.6 points per game, and Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jared Rhoden are capable of putting up big numbers at any time.

PREDICTION: Over 142 (-110)
