A three-game tour of the Big 12’s elite showed the Houston Cougars have work to do if they want to get back to the Final Four.

With the Baylor Bears ripe for a letdown after a rare road win and UH focused on improving its offensive output, my Baylor vs. Houston predictions aren't shying away from this sizable spread.

Baylor vs Houston prediction

Baylor vs Houston best bet: Houston Cougars -15 (-110)

The Houston Cougars' hopes of a top seed died with that three-game skid, leaving Sampson to take a hard look at his team.

His top priority is adding punch to the UH attack, playing faster and more actively. The result was 102 points on 60% shooting vs. Colorado. The Cougars can replicate those results against a Baylor Bears defense ranked among the worst in the conference.

The Bears could also be flat after earning just their third road win at UCF. They now travel for a second straight game to face a team that smoked them by 22 points at Waco in January.

Baylor vs Houston same-game parlay

The Cougars got a wake-up call during that three-game gauntlet, and Sampson is throwing gas on the UH fire sparks one of the best offenses in the country.

Houston has made good when laying the lumber, boasting a 40-0 straight up record and 59% against the spread when pegged as a favorite of -15 or higher the past three seasons.

The Cougars have been one of the better Under bets at home. However, UH is looking to put the pedal to the metal on offense and play at an even faster pace. Game projections call for a ceiling of 166 combined points tonight.

Emanuel Sharp will see plenty of transition 3-point attempts against a BU defense that allows foes to fire at better than 35% from distance. Projections sit as high as 3.1 triples from Sharp.
