Alabama and Auburn clash in an Iron Bowl rivalry game, with the Tide rolling as one of the nation's most efficient offenses.

Auburn has been solid at home, but Alabama's elite backcourt has the firepower to win on the road.

Find out why I'm backing the visitors in my Alabama vs. Auburn predictions and college basketball picks for Saturday, February 7.

Alabama vs Auburn prediction

Alabama vs Auburn best bet: Alabama moneyline (+130)

The Alabama Crimson Tide opened as a slight favorite and the market has flipped them to an underdog, but I don’t agree with it.

Even with some inconsistency, Alabama has the higher-end backcourt and a matchup that sets up well on both ends.

Aden Holloway is a problem getting downhill at around 1.22 points per possession on rim attacks this season. Rim and threes are the core of a Nate Oats offense, and that should travel here because the Auburn Tigers’ rim defense has been only mid-pack.

Alabama also has an edge in half-court creation. Holloway and Philon in attack-and-kick actions combine for close to 9% of possessions with strong efficiency, and Auburn has not consistently walled off those types of breakdowns.

On the other side, Auburn wants to win through Keyshawn Hall at the rim at nearly 10% frequency and Tahaad Pettiford in transition, but Alabama’s rim defense has quietly been a strength, and its transition defense has improved as the season has progressed.

Alabama may not get its usual transition runway if Auburn is set defensively, but the path is still clear: Drive pressure, free throws, and kick-out threes.

With the Tide’s shot-making and backcourt firepower, +130 is too much for the better ceiling team.

Alabama vs Auburn same-game parlay

Hall has been overly reliant on rim pressure to score this season. He’s gotten just over 10% of his scores at the rim. Bama has the athletic frontcourt to cut that off, which is why they’ve held opponents to right around .90 points per possession on rim attacks this season.

The Under is worth a look too, as I projected it just around 172. Auburn has been surprisingly good this season in transition defensive areas. Meanwhile, much of Bama’s strengths in this matchup come at the rim and not from the perimeter.

Our beyond the arc SGP: Hall monitor

The closest comp to Alabama that Auburn has played this season from a shot profile aspect is Texas A&M. It’s not a coincidence that Hall grabbed a season high 12 rebounds in that matchup, either.

It makes sense to take one of the best rebounders on the floor to clear his rebound total when you believe the game sneaks Under. That holds even more when that player is a forward and a ton of threes will be shot, increasing long rebounds.
