The San Antonio Spurs will look to start the season with a second straight win as they face the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center tonight.

Victor Wembanyama scored 40 points in his season opener, and I’m predicting another big performance from San Antonio’s superstar in my Spurs vs. Pelicans predictions.

Spurs vs Pelicans prediction

Spurs vs Pelicans best bet: Victor Wembanyama Over 39.5 points and rebounds (-125)

Victor Wembanyama was on fire in the San Antonio Spurs’ season opener on Wednesday, torching the Dallas Mavericks for 40 points and 15 rebounds in a 125-92 rout.

Wembanyama averaged 24.3 points and 11 rebounds per game during his sophomore season, en route to his first All-Star selection, before his year ended in February due to blood clots in his shoulder.

The Spurs forward looked better than ever in his return to the court, shooting 15-for-21 from the field while also going 9-for-11 from the free throw line.

Wemby should be able to dominate against a New Orleans Pelicans team that is not known for its defensive talent. The Pellies ranked 26th in the NBA in points allowed per game last season (119.3), 27th in opponent points in the paint (53.3), and 27th in opponent rebounds per game (45.7).

Spurs vs Pelicans same-game parlay

I’m expecting a big game from Wemby, but don’t look past Zion Williamson either.

The Pelicans forward scored 27 in his season debut against the Memphis Grizzlies and averaged 24.6 ppg in 2024-25. With the Pellies losing CJ McCollum, Williamson should be the team’s primary scorer.

The Spurs are favored at -180 and looked terrific in their season opener, so I like them to get off to a 2-0 start.

Spurs vs Pelicans SGP

  • Victor Wembanyama Over 28.5 points
  • Zion Williamson Over 25.5 points
  • Spurs moneyline

Our "from downtown” SGP: Castle on the Hill

Wembanyama and sophomore Stephon Castle combined for 62 points on Wednesday, and the duo should dominate a lackluster Pelicans defense.

The Spurs (56.1%) and Pelicans (55.6%) both cashed a lot of Overs last season, so chances are everyone gets in on the scoring tonight.

Spurs vs Pelicans SGP

  • Victor Wembanyama Over 28.5 points
  • Zion Williamson Over 25.5 points
  • Stephon Castle Over 18.5 points
  • Victor Wembanyama Over 11.5 rebounds

Spurs vs Pelicans odds

  • Spread: San Antonio -3.5 (-110) | New Orleans +3.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: San Antonio -165 | New Orleans +135
  • Over/Under: Over 230.5 (-110) | Under 230.5 (-110)
