The Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets have each won three straight games, but one win streak will be snapped on Sunday as the two teams collide.

Reed Sheppard has been excellent on offense, making the most of his opportunities with Fred VanVleet out for the season. My Magic vs Rockets predictions expect the second-year man to continue his strong play at home.

Here are my best free NBA picks for this inter-conference matchup at Toyota Center on November 16.

Magic vs Rockets prediction

Magic vs Rockets best bet: Reed Sheppard Over 11.5 points (-105)

Reed Sheppard is off to a hot start to start his second season. He’s averaging 12.3 points across 22.4 minutes per game, offering microwave scoring off the bench for the Houston Rockets' electric offense.

After scoring nine points in the first two games of the season, Sheppard has scored at least 12 in seven of his last nine. That includes five straight games heading into Sunday’s matchup.

Sheppard has been even better over his last three. Houston’s offense has averaged 132.3 points per game, and Sheppard has contributed 16.7 with four triples. In that span, he’s knocked down 52.2% of his treys.

Sheppard is attempting 5.9 three-pointers per game this season and converting them at a 47.7% clip. The Orlando Magic defense has allowed opponents to hit 37.8% of three-pointers on the road, good for the eighth-highest mark.

The Rockets and Sheppard are hot offensively, and in a game that should feature plenty of offense, I’m backing the Over on this modest scoring line.

Magic vs Rockets same-game parlay

Since losing to the San Antonio Spurs, Houston has won three straight games by an average of 18 points per game. Houston boasts a +16 net rating at home, good for fourth-best in the Association. The Rockets have the upper hand over the Magic at Toyota Center.

The Rockets have scored 132.3 points per game across their last three, and I expect them to keep rolling at home. Even with Paolo Banchero, Orlando has enough offensive firepower to put up some points, and I’ll take the Over on this modest total.

Our "from downtown" SGP: Prepare for blast off
