NBA picks for today
New Orleans Pelicans vs Detroit Pistons
Since the start of February, Zion Williamson is averaging 25.3 points per game on 68.8 percent shooting from the floor. Zion has really started to turn his season around—and the Pelicans have been extremely competitive as a result.
Stan Van Gundy has finally found a way to unlock his star’s potential, and it shouldn’t be all that surprising if the second-year pro has a big game against the Pistons. Detroit is a Bottom-10 defensive team in the NBA and has a glaring need for a rim protector.
For an elite finisher like Zion, the matchup doesn’t get much better than this.
PREDICTION: Zion Williamson Over 24.5 Points (-125)
Orlando Magic vs Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns are one of the hottest teams in basketball right now and they have to feel pretty good about their chances of picking up a win against a lousy Magic team on Sunday. But despite the fact that Phoenix is the better team, Orlando's Nikola Vucevic is the guy we're keying in on, as he could have a big game on the glass.
Once again, Vucevic is playing like an All-Star for the Magic and the big man is averaging 11.5 rebounds per game this season. Tonight, Vucevic will be going up against a Suns team that can really struggle to keep opponents off the glass. Phoenix often plays lineups with either Frank Kaminsky or Dario Saric at center, which leaves them a bit vulnerable when trying to rebound.
That should mean that Vucevic, who already dominates in the paint, should be able to fill up the stat sheet.
PREDICTION: Nikola Vucevic Over 11.5 Rebounds (-120)
Memphis Grizzlies vs Sacramento Kings
Over his last four games, Ja Morant is averaging 9.8 assists per game for the Grizzlies, who come into Sunday’s meeting with the Kings in desperate need of a win. Memphis is 1-5 SU and ATS over the last two weeks, and the team can use a victory over a Sacramento group that is just ahead of it in the Western Conference standings.
This meeting with the Kings looks like one that could result in some huge numbers for Morant. Sacramento is last in the NBA in defensive rating and the team prefers an up-and-down style of play. With that, there should be a ton of scoring in this one, and that means that Morant’s likely to rack up assists for Memphis.
Morant has had 9 or more assists in four straight games—and he should be able to eclipse that number again tonight.
PREDICTION: Ja Morant Over 8.5 Assists (+114)
