Eastern Conference playoff seeding is on the line tonight as the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers square off in the Big Apple for the second time in three days.

Despite finishing on the losing side of a 79-73 rockfight on Sunday, the Knicks are favored in the latest NBA odds, though they continue to tread water without Julius Randle, OG Anunoby, and Mitchell Robinson.

The 76ers snapped a three-game skid at the weekend behind 18 points from Kelly Oubre Jr., and they’re expected to welcome Tyrese Maxey back from a concussion tonight. That would be a huge boost as they try to pull level with the Knicks in the race to avoid the Play-In Tournament.

76ers vs Knicks predictions

Praise the basketball gods for the Philadelphia 76ers' timely acquisition of Kyle Lowry on the buyout market last month. Philadelphia was already dealing with Joel Embiid’s absence, but a string of other injuries has pushed Lowry into a bigger role than even he surely expected when he signed for his hometown team.

The veteran point guard turns 38 later this month, and his steady hand has helped the visitors at least remain competitive with a 3-3 record in their last six games. Lowry has played more than 30 minutes in all five contests so far in March, and I expect the heavy workload to continue tonight, even with Tyrese Maxey set to return.

Lowry's assists prop is the one that jumps out to me. That’s always been a strength for the former Raptor, and he had recorded five or more dimes in four straight outings before finishing with just three assists in Sunday’s scrap.

These days, his scoring tends to come and go, but Lowry’s decision-making remains elite and his assists tally should get a bump with Maxey on the receiving end of his passes.

It’s reasonable to expect more offense than we saw between the Sixers and New York Knicks over the weekend, and I’m counting on Lowry’s playmaking to be a major factor tonight.

My best bet: Kyle Lowry Over 4.5 assists (-110 at FanDuel)

76ers vs Knicks same-game parlay

Kyle Lowry Over 4.5 assists

Josh Hart Over 9.5 rebounds

Under 208

With his teammates dropping like flies around him, Josh Hart has continued to be Tom Thibodeau’s iron man. He’s logged at least 40 minutes in every game since the All-Star break, and he’s been a consistent contributor on the glass.

I like the Over on the Hart rebounds prop here. He’s had double-digit boards in four of his last six games — with 18 or more in two of those outings. Hart ended up with 11 rebounds on Sunday and there should be plenty of misses to vacuum up again here.

The Under is going to a popular play tonight with both teams missing key bucket-getters, and Sunday’s matchup was tough to watch at times, as the Knicks shot just 33% from the field.

While a repeat of that futility is unlikely, the trends support another low-scoring clash. The Under is 8-2 in New York’s past 10 games and it’s 7-3 for Philadelphia over that same span.

76ers vs Knicks spread and Over/Under analysis

After a no-show from both offenses on Sunday, it’s tough to feel great about picking either team against the spread. The Knicks get the favorites tag, but the 6.5-point line seems high, particularly with Maxey on course to spice up the 76ers’ game plan.

Across its past 10 contests, New York is just 3-7 against the spread. Philadelphia also did an impressive job on Jalen Brunson in the prior matchup, holding him to 19 points on 6-for-22 shooting. If the 76ers’ record was any better than 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 contests, the line would surely be shorter.

I’ve already picked the Under as an attractive bet, and the Knicks deserve a lot of credit for holding two straight opponents under 80 points.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia hasn’t reached 110 points in any of its last four games, while New York has been held to 100 points or fewer in five of its past six contests.

76ers vs Knicks betting trend to know
